  1. Bashing
So I'm pretty new to the hobby and seem to be hearing different things from different folks so I thought I would ask here. What is better Aluminum or Nylon clutch shoes? Is there alot of difference if your just bashing? I dont mind spending the extra money if I see a big difference but I'm not racing (yet...) so I was just wondering what you guys used for racing and bashing.

Off-road - I've gotten better grip, and longevity from aluminum shoes versus nylon shoes.

On-road - Most of the time I used centax clutches which isn't a shoe type of clutch.
I believe that these use PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene, which is a tough crystalline resinous material).
I've also used nylon clutches on some cars with no issues.

It wasn't until I got into off-road that nylon shoes became an issue.

I've always run nylon or carbon, never alloy. I bash off road with 2wd ST's and 1/10 or 1/8 MT's. I tend to gear a bit lower than most though since I like wheelies more than top speed. If I geared taller or ran bigger tires/wheels, it may be more of an issue. As it is, I rough up my shoes maybe once every gallon or so with sand paper and usually put a new set in every year (5+ gallons of run time).
