This Granite was removed from the box and taken outside. The very first thing my kid said was "it's waterproof" and immediately drove it through some soupy mud puddles. When we got back inside I put it in the shower and used the wand to wash it all out. The entire chassis tub was packed with mud and grass. I let it dry for about a week before we drove it again. No issues at all, and I have done this a number of times when an RC got really dirty. WD40 afterwards helps rid the RC of any excess water.Petroleum can damage some plastics It will also attract more dust and dirt on your next run.
I use compressed air and a brush to clean my r/c's. The body, tires and wheels can be easily removed for a clean in water and dishsoap if needed.
Not that I recommend any of this, other than WD40, but it works. When your 6 year old kid gets them muddy, there's no getting to the screws to tear it down
