I feel like I saw the ghost of Christmas future today...

I was in a LHS and this guy looked pennyless, however he was building a pile of new parts in front of him carried by a clerk as he read from a list.

I saw him next in front of the new nitros, he claimed he had every one except for two now (there were about 2 dozen). I mentioned that I got out of nitro for electrics, he seemed in a daze.

Finnaly, I saw him at the cash register, his wife was pulling money from her pocket and together they carried off their mountain of new parts..

LMAO! I was thinking "wonder if thats what people think of me when I go to the HS after work"

One day I'll stand in front of a group and say, "Hi, my name is RCDad, and I'm an RC-aholic"

LMAO! thats too funny.

But yeah? whats disturbing about that? IMO it's more disturbing that you judged the guy by his appearance. How do you know he did not just get off work, I know for a fact when I come home from work I look penniless more often than not, until I shower and change. And had you told me you traded off all your nitro for electric, you probably would have gotten the exact same look from me.

He did look at me a little strange when I said I traded a NTC3+ with an OS .18 engine for a T3 :)

That's because your nutz!!!

IMHO, electric is just a different way of burning money. Some choose methanal based liquid to set their cash of fire, some use battery acid... both end in the same manner... empty wallet and angry wife! :)

Someone should make a penniless emoticon.

PS. I'm just screwing with you RCDad. I thought about getting a mini-t for those cold or rainy days, but then the gears started turning in my head... brushless... lipoly... chargers... aluminum arms... more stuff!!!!!

LMAO, Olds. That's a very funny line, and absolutely, you speakum truth.

Oh, so if your not nitro your just wasting money?

Major money down the tubes either way. Free choice on how you want to burn it. All in all, we must be getting some major enjoyment out of it, or we wouldn't be spending that kind of cash.

Oh hell no!!! We are all just wasting money!

It's just that at the end of the day, you don't have burnt knuckles and blisters from ripping the cord on an engine and a buttload of oil residue to clean up!

There is a fine line between necessity and stupidity when playing the RC game. I don't purchase no where the amount that others do and I would have to say that I have enough cash sunk in this hobby.

I do it just to piss my wife off. :p: I get my moneys worth.

It's about how much money we all throw at these little toys of ours.....but damn these things can be outrageously fun.....I spnt 450 bucks a couple of weeks ago and it was just an engine/clutch/pipe setup and an OFNA truggy spur gear.....the lady next in line after me saw what I was spendng and asked where the rest of it was and I showed her this little bag and she want ed to give the revo back before she bought it....I assured her that only when we want to get really stupid and try to do Custom vehicles do we spend that kind of cash on our stuff.....the kid saw my mutant maxx the otherday and was begging his mom to let him break his savings for one like it.....the LHS owner told me that's it I am working there and I said I'm not in your pocket yet....wait till I'm sniffing nitro fuel instead of driving them to get the high then I'll work for you....

Umm, yeah. I see some scruffy looking people that hang out at my LHS as well, but I know that they haven't just come in from work. They also seem to be able to make every local race at all of the local tracks and can plop down $600 for a new 1/8 buggy just to have a new one for the new race season. Then you see the vehicle they get into and the average age is about 15 years old. Makes you wonder if some people spend ALL of their money on R/C and nothing on the esssentials. Plus, I wonder how many are living off of the "system". And to add to it, none of them have famlies and if they have a woman it is a GF of 10+ years, and these guys are in their mid to late thirties.
Dunnow, maybe it's just me.
