4s Typhon doing 100mph plus

Question. There's a bloke in Manchester says he converted a Typhon 3s Blx. He says he changed the ESC to 4s. Put a 23t pinion on, and changed the tires to road tires. He says the max speed he reached was 102mph. Is this possible? Or is he telling porkies.

unlikely.not sure what spur he is running or motor?. i have 4 cell speed cars but my pinions are like 56 with 42 tooth spurs that max out at 156mph on custom rubber tires on 1/8 scale steel rims.

Not sure I've seen any video on YouTube with a GPS showing 100mph+ on 4S, most are doing it with 6S setups of those I've seen

It doesn’t sound impossible. My buddy has a traxxas hoss and he can get it up to 80mph on 4s and he has a 23t pinion and a 54t spur. The combo he is running is a HW Max10 with the 2400kv motor. It’s friends fast as heck! I’m gonna get that combo for my rustler 4x4 and I’m gonna shoot for 100mph! It only does about 65 right now. I also snapped a chassis on it so that still needs to be replaced. Rn I have a slash chassis on it with hoss tires. I also need a new RX because the other one went caput.

It depends on a lot of factors. Aerodynamics, gearing (final drive ratio), weight of vehicle, surface, wind, temperature, etc. So it's hard to say if his is hitting those numbers or not. Impossible? No, but that's some crazy speed for 4s, especially keeping things cool enough. Tell him to get a video.

I suppose some when some people join the 100mph club then that's it, bragging rights, a badge of honour. Imagine me telling her indoors, "I hit a 100 today" She would say something like "Ooooh, wait till I tell the other girls how manly you are!" Job done......

I respect the guys who can do it, it's not just a matter of buying parts, a lot of work goes into it. A lot of learning and crashes to get disciplined enough to hit that mark.

Kevin Talbot has been trying to break 200 mph, and the amount of time and money he has put into his build is pretty darned ridiculous. Especially when they end in a crash and he has to basically start over. But it has been a lot of fun to watch him try.

I'm sure he does with how many subscribers he has. But he works his butt off for it. It's a lot of work just putting out the number of videos he does. Work hard = play hard.

Dunno. But have seen T-shirts for both 100mph club and 100kph club. Me, I'm still trying to get to the 100kph (~60mph) club.

100mph on 3S is doing something, that's for certain. Esp. for a 1/8 open wheel. Have to be one of those special days when everything goes right - for both the car and the driver. Yeah, like to see the vid of that. Actually, have a Typhon slider on my Ebay watchlist as a possible for a 3S speed runner install. Encouraging to read of anothers' speed claim on that package.
