3 shoe 3spring clutch install

Its easier if you have a clutch tool to do it like this:
http://www.amazon.com/Team-Losi-Clu...62C4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1328183855&sr=8-1
(I know the link to this particular tool says LST and LST2 but it works for any 3 shoe clutch)
Honestly no tool box should be without one of these badboys for no more than they cost :)

Heres a video of how to use the tool.

Wow much easier and cheap too. My next order will definately include one. No more flying springs either lol. :)

LOL yeah definatly. The first couple of times I changed my shoes I had flying springs too. In fact one of them flung off across the room....spend an hour looking for it before I finally gave up....drove the 50 minute round trip to my LHS and back to get a new set of springs and when I get home and I walk in my living room, whats the cat playing with? You guessed it....my missing clutch spring O_o LAWL

That tool will make life alot easier for ya

Another good tip for you if you want an easy way to remove your flywheel then get one of these:
http://www.amazon.com/Pico-0681pt-B...CO3I/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1328284693&sr=8-6

Granted thats an el-cheapo one and is definatly made cheap (I own it so ya, believe me when I say its a cheap piece of crap) but it works and continues to work still. I'm waiting on mine to break so I can buy a little better quality one but so far its still going sooooooo I'm still stuck with it. If you go to Amazon.com and do a search for battery terminal puller you will get a large selection to choose from. Just make sure its got an adjustable width to accomidate all sizes of flywheels.

Previously I ran a 3 shoe clutch with the "worm" spring on the outside of the shoes and on my last run the spring broke and my shoes wore down to virtually nothing. Well now I'm using the individual springs and man they seem awfully stiff. I've .95 mm on there the "lightest" I could find at Amain. Anyway, do they engage any later than the "worm" spring? I have yet to run it with the new clutch setup.

I replaced the 3 shoe clutch on my MGT by fabbing my own removal tool out of 1/2 inch copper pipe with a tang cut in it to "compress" the spring so it can slide off the crank. Cost me about .90 to make

I just use a magnetic screwdriver so the springs don't go flying everywhere. They just stick to the screwdriver.
