ok ok ok bare with me here, I am not new to rc but I am new to switching motors, I recently switched out my stock mill in my tc3 to an OS 15 cv-r I really like it , ez to tune and has been starting 1st or second pull! now dont get me wrong but after running my nitro 4tec(crap) at wot(runs hot) I realized that my os 15 dosnt have the top end I am used to, so I have been looking into the reason why a 21 mill with a few minor mods can't go into a tc3, is this possible? am I thinking out of my ass here? I dont know too many people who are into this hobbie so I dont have any one to tell me this can or can't be done, I know that 21 mills are designed for 1/8 scale cars but I am thinking that if schumacer can do it than why can't I or anyone else for that matter! I am looking into the os21 vz-r you can see it here http://www.osengines.com/engines/osmg2071.html
I know that some of you will say jeeez what a dumbass! its gearing not power, that is true in most cases but even with different gearing the 15 would fly top end but would lack in off the gun power, there is no happy medium to gearing, I am looking for both and thinking that a 21 would give me both, my guess to all this is the car would have way too much torque and just spin in circles, but if some of you think it could be done, please let me know! I may just have to get a 1/8 kit and try out this motor, looks like a fun project! Thanks for readin!

Just get the Schumacher  . Although you MAY be able to get that .21 into a TC3 you could get the performanec you are looking for with a kickass Mugen .12 mill. Seriously. All balls!

I would also be concerned about the added weight and effect on your CG by putting the .21 into the NTC3. Better suited for an 8th scale.

I really dont know for certain, I'm just lending my opinion on where the .21 would be better (Shumacher!)

Good Luck!

Thanks Çh®i§tiªñ these are the kind of answers I need, I have had my cars apart so many times and added new things here and removed old things there, you know this isnt just a hobby its an adiction as well , so I am always thinking of new stuff to do, dosnt mean that i am thinkin of the right things to do, so now I really want some kind of a challenge but the end result would still be speed and a reliable mill, thinking about building a serpent kit 1/8 and putting in the mill I mentioned b4, heard no bad things about this mill and would like lots of opinions on what to stuff in there, being practical is not an option, I want extreme!!!cmon people what would you put into a serpent 1/8?

Go with the ZR! That would be an awesome ride I'm sure!

Serpent is one of the best if not THE best in 8th scale on-road!

Does Mugen make a .21?

Çh®i§tiªñ yup,yer right there! I have been looking at that serpent kit so much in the last couple months I feel like I'm stalking it! lol
dont think mugen makes a 21 I was looking around on the net today for all sorts of mills that would be an extreme choice, I am still really likeing that os mill, I know this kit is gonna take me some time to build so the last thing I want to put in there is a unreliable mill! so my search continues! think I will go back to the serpent site and see what my bitch is doin!

To be honest, i think with my engine (1.54hp) I could probably keep up with a .21 powered 1/10. The weight difference would be quite a bit

Re - 21 in a tc3 ??

Nitromanic - Check out the rcnitro forum under associated nitro tc-3 thread version 2 page 59 posted by a guy name show2ime he already stuffed a os 21 like yours in his tc-3. The 1/8 scale on road guys don't run os they run mostly rb's novarossi, jb, top, megas etc, the os just don't put out enough power for the on road guys. Kwong what 1/10 with a 21 are you refering to? If you are refering to a fusion 21 it will be close but the fusion will edge you out toward the end of the straightaway. (our straightaway is 200 feet.) We already tried this.

That with stock gearing on the tc3? Cuz I top out really fast with my ntc3...within probably 100-150ft. But I haven't tried gearing it really high

wow!!!!! this is gettin fun! ok, so far, the reason I am leaning towards the os mill is because I have read just about every thread there is about it and it gets almost as much praise as the damn tc3 itself! I think thats all good but I am not married to it yet! all I know is that my os15cv-rx has been a sweet treat for me and I would like to build something that would really test my patience and building abillity, so you see , I am going with what I know and this is why I ask for help, I am not an engine guru but I know what works for me so far, I have heard and read that novarossis, mugen, picco all have their little pissy moods and can be a total biotch for some one who isnt experienced enough to handle them, and not to sound like a snot nosed little spoiled poop(because I am not,I work my ass off for this hobby) but if I wanted the fusion i would get it, once again I have heard and read too many conns on this car and not enough pros to make me want it, besides, I am not a racer but I do love this hobby and want to become a decent builder, so it makes me want to try something different, if it worked and I had a tc3 that would be sonic that would be cool my neighbors already run like hell from my tc3, I want to make them move to another state! lol keep them mill sugestions comin, I really am open and would like to know what other people would do! thanx for readin, again!

RE - 21 in a tc3

Nitromanic - Did you checkout show2ime's post ? There is a picture of his tc3 with a 21 in it. If he could do it so could you.

nitro head where did you find his thread? I can't find it, would really like to see it

I'll take that bet,, anyday you wanna bring that 1.5hp and a video cam over.. be my guest.. .. Personally I run a C5 team motor with about 3+hp in my 1/10th serpent 705 ,, and I'll be damned if any 1/10th scales been able to hang, even sponsored drivers that get their junk for free sit in amazement. , and 1/8th scale guys? you know how big of a grin you get passing 1/8th scale guys? especially when they dont know about your powerplant, you run mild for a few laps , then when they try and pass you like a normal 1/10th you smoke their ,, well we'll leave that line out.. but you get my drift.
bah only naysayers would say no to upping your powerplant,,it's like running an electric car and saying should I shouldnt run a 8-10 turn motor when thats what I want,, and stick with a 27turn,, cuz ur 27 turn is gonna eat up the 10 turn? weeird,, unless your track is as big as a bathroom ,, i beg to differ..

I never meant I could beat all .21 powered 1/10. You have an all out race engine in it. But you take maybe a 21bb powered 1/10 and I could take it.

21 in a nitro-tc3

Kwong21 - I will take that bet also, you could not out run my fusion 21. Your horsepower rating maybe close to that of a 21 but you don,t have the torque that a 21 does under load your engine will not be able to turn the rear wheels of your car at the same rpm as the 21 because you don't have the torque. Torque is the ability of a motor to move weight.
