Hey guys. The clutch has become loose from 4 years of use. I've never had to tighten it and I seem to have misplaced the book. I looked around and can't find it. So my question is, does anybody know how to tighten the clutch on a 2004 arctic cat 400 atv? I don't know the model but its a utility quad. Standard model.

Thanks man, but I don't know how to tighten the clutch. I found the clutch assembly, but it doesn't say what to tighten. If sombody could point that out for me, that would be great.

if its hydrolic it probably adjust itself, just like a car.(you may need new clutch disk)

if its cable, it will either be on the cable near the handle or on the cable where it hooks up to the clutch arm on the cases.

Well its got an automatic clutch. I just can't figure this one out, and everybody I talk to doesn't know either. The book doesn't say either. Thanks for the help on this one.

you got 4 yrs out of the disk, id change em. after stroking my banshee i would eat through disk every 10 hours or so of hard riding. i went with a weisco aftermarket kit that had disk and a billit aluminum basket, the wiseco clutch disk suck!(comparable to stock) i now have dirtdigger disk and changed out my spring for some from a dirtbike.

I do plan to change the disk this winter when its out of commission. For now, I just want to tighten it so I can get a little while of riding. Charlie, I assume thats what it is, but what do I ture, that is the question.

ok you got me there, closest I ever been to an arctic cat was when I was bangin the daughter of the local dealer, and the best advice I can give it what turns her on, not what to turn lmao

She didn't last too long though, she drove a mustang and I just couldn't let someone find out that I was with someone driving a mustang, would have ruined the reputation I worked so hard to build lol.

i am a atv mechanic and on those type of clutchs they are shimed for the belt. You actually have to take the rear cluch apart and remove shims and add shims to loosen and tighten the belt. But if you do not a the correct pully and the correct hold you probly wont get the clutch apart.

Are you sure? So its not really adjustable? Not questioning your mechanic skills, but the diagram lookis like friction pads. Sorry for second guessing you, but I want to be absolutly posative when I go to fix my dads quad.
