As far as I know, as long as it can be plugged into your mother board (as in has the right configuration) it can be used. I have one old machine that had some 64MB chips mixed with 128 and 256 chips from different manufacturers. I have two newer machines that have mixed bags as well. In fact this machine has a 512 from one maker and a 512 from a different maker. Before that it had a 512 and a 256.

So as far as I can tell, RAM is RAM to the machine as long as it has the right configuration.

Well Ram is all the same pupose wise. But Ram come in different speeds. but it all comes down to your bus speed. most bus speeds are around 533-733Mhz.

So as long as everything matches what your machine needs, who cares who makes it (as far as purpose goes...quality is another issue altogether)? The machine is not going to go...hey, this is K-Mart brand...yuck and spit it out.
