Hey guys, my blaster, i was riding it today and in 5 gear the back tires just lock up. It wont move at all, even if i hold the clutch in. So i sat beside the road for 20 mins and decide to try it. I get on, start it up and pull out and it goes ten feet and locks up again. Thanks for the help!

I know this sounds stupid....but is the rear brake locked up....when i went and built my 450r to a 545 i went with a lock up clutch and it hit the brake level just enough to get the brakes really hot...hot enough were it locked the rear axle up.

nope there not locked up because thers no back breaks, not even a caliper on it so it can't be that.

are the swingarm bearings shot??? if u pick up the back can u wiggle the axle all around?

kinda off subject but funny u posted this cause i just came back inside from working on my 400ex

it stays running and everything when it locks up ?

not sure, but it wont move with the clutch on or out, but i did start it up and it went about ten feet and locked up again.

put it on a cinderblock and have it in neutral and see if u can spin it by hand and get it to do it

without the engine running or anything

if the axle has alot of play and u can wiggle it then i would say try that first

o and to answer your other question, it does not run when its locked up, one i let go of the clutch, it tries moving but just stall becuase the back wheels wont move.

I'm gonna have a guy look at it tommorow, but the main thing i want to know is, what is the possibility it could be the transmission, and that would need to be replaced?

It doesn't sound like a tranmission problem, it sounds more like your axle or something in the back. Maybe pull the chain off the rear sprocket and see if that will spin. If it does its your axle. If you can't make the sprocket on the engine turn, its something internal.

If it locked up all of a sudden its most likely the rear bearing, if you can wiggle the back wheel around, new bearings it is.
But somethings definatly happened to your clutch, maybe its just a gear selector has checked out.

After reading more of this it sounds like a bad axle carrier...those are not that bad dollar wise or do bearings
