The $16 one is for slipper setup, ask me how I know 🤣

Two 1/8 6s basher buggies under $500. Each will easily surpass the 60mph mark.. I know @PainKiller mentioned an interest. Too early?🙄

Never too early to look. I still have my heart set on a Tekno. But I’d like to get another buggy (RTR) in addition to the Tekno. I like the Typhon LTR upgraded one. I need to see what Associated has to offer. And now there’s that new JATO.

I’d pass HARD on the Jato.. Absolutely guarantee 90% of its new owners to be heavily let down. Just my .02..

You will be ULTRA impressed with the Tekno buggy for your first 1/8 kit build for sure. As mentioned by @KnowAir above-You can get a ludicrously fast 6s basher buggy from Arrma for relatively decent pricing..

Sworkz makes an ULTRA high quality 1/8 off-road brushless RTR as well that shares a LOT with their PRO kit… In my personal opinion, as far as RTR quality, performance, and value go-this one can NOT be beat.. Like not even close to anything else..🤷🏻‍♂️ Their Fit and Finish is right up there with Xray, Mugen Seiki, and Tekno.. Without a doubt.. It truly amazes me that this is an RTR vehicle… And the price… Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit..😳

and shipping would obviously be free from BeachRC, and they get it out QUICK.. One of my absolute favorite online outfits to deal with hands down.

The exposed pinion/spur on the 1/8 scale race-bred buggies makes me leery of ever owning one as a basher.

Tekno wisely encased them on their 'monster trucks' - a good move to appeal to the 'basher' market, IMO.

Wow , I love it! Never heard of that brand before. This buggy looks unbelievable. Research time 😃

There's this trade secret trick of cutting out a notch beneath the spur so the gears can spit out the pebbles. It's not really a secret anymore.....

They’re absolutely top tier. I seriously can’t believe they offer an RTR version of their pro-kit. It’s not identical obviously, but it shares a LOT from it.. Far more than any other race grade manufacturer’s RTR.. Their parts are also readily available. If I were going to do pillowball stuff instead of C-hub, I would FOR SURE have gone with Sworkz. SUPER capable, durable, ultra high quality stuff. And again-the fit and finish is above, and beyond. The pricing is literally unbelievable imo. 🍻🤘

Bro! I was just playin! That thang is shmokin! Wow, maybe I need a new buggy.. LOL.

Too funny, I actually cut slots "into" my Tekno chassis to give the debris a place to egress! LOL. I have had more than one Arrma center diff cup destroyed, but TBH it's pretty rare for me.

I suppose it isn't any harder to source parts for than an Xray or Corally? I haven't noted any reason to choose either over the other in regards to pivot ball or C-hub. Have examples of both. Yes, I know I said pivot.. :p

Bro, I can just imagine the Apollo vs JATO on a track.. LOL.

You know me brotha-I wasn’t bashing your option(s) by any means lol! 😅

Just when he mentioned looking to see what Associated may have had available-I knew he was looking into possible race grade manufacturers for the RTR buggy. Would also keep things nice and simple being 4s so that he could buy all the same batteries for use between his Tekno buggy kit, and whatever RTR buggy he decides on.

The Sworkz was the only race grade manufacturer I’d ever recommend for their RTR offering(s) based on my own experience-as others such as Kyosho, Losi, Serpent, etc. take away sooooooo much from their KIT older brothers (inferior plastics, missing diff gears, subpar shocks, chassis that bend when you look at them, cast metal parts over CNC’d 7075, PHILLIPS SCREWS (c’mon Kyosho 🙄), and very mediocre electronics. Sworkz legit said, “Hold my beer..” when it comes to the race grade RTR game imho.

All this without sacrificing “bash-ability”, and a price tag just under $520.. Even discussing this in the thread has me wanting to grab an Sworkz buggy kit to stick in the corner of the RC lair, and I haven’t even had a chance to get started on my new Tekno nitro buggy, let alone-the (2) Tekno e-buggies that are coming very shortly…🤷🏻‍♂️😂🤤

**Disclaimer-i am absolutely not even THINKING about comparing whatever Traxxas is thinking with that 2s abomination to ANY capable 1/8 off-road e-buggy…😂 and I’ve got no qualms with them either-Traxxas has never done anything to me in the least; i just see a veritable plethora of better options for me personally in literally any circumstance but a dedicated “Traxxas Class” race event. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Right on, I totally agree brother. I listed the obvious choices, urs is definitely better. Plus OP really wants a kit, can't go wrong with a Tekno.😎

A top level buggy in RTR form with good parts availability and a great price. It sounds almost too good to be true. But it looks incredible. Sworkz has my full attention.
Mine too, but I can't find a race quality truggy for under $800 these days, which is really my preference. Buggies are awesome, but require a groomed surface to really strut. Truggy more tolerant to rough surfaces.

I’m already super jealous lol… And not a thing wrong with your choices either imo. 🤘🍻

To have a killer, heavily modified monster truck as an initial entrance into the hobby (or REentry-I can’t remember), a great entry level RTR for the boy(s), and then a Tekno kit, along with an Sworkz Apollo “RTR” would have quite a few folks envious… And for good reason lol.. That’s quite the fleet right there. He’d also be set up for success in the hobby as well as anyone could possibly be imo. 🤩

I seem to be spending all this money on RC vehicles lately. Plus a Tekno and another buggy I plan on getting soon. I’m gonna be broke before too long. How did this happen? What’s happening to me? 🤣

Better than strippers & blow! 🤷🏻‍♂️😅

I cannot say that it’s easier on the wallet, and you’ll likely get some of the same looks, but it’s definitely better…😅

And the kids will thank you for it. Top dad status right there.. I will NEVER forget the time I got to spend with my pops because of him aligning my little brother and I with RC..❤️

The life lessons (not becoming ridiculously entitled is one), work ethic, mechanical ability, helping others, and the great folks you meet along the way are priceless as well. 🤙

Add to that list of attributes : gifted writer. Because you , sir , are a true poet. All your posts are like award-winning min-novels compared to my struggling 2nd grade attempts at proper grammar. And thanks for the kind words 👍

We just got a bunch of extra body clips today and a second handheld blower. Those pine needles like to get stuck in the wheels. This weekend looks like great bashing weather here. And it’s the last soccer game of the season too. Good stuff 😃
