With an $800 budget , what would you get?

Is that a website? No idea what they upgraded, but so far I've only upgraded the steering servo and replaced the plastic shocks with all aluminum models (which I've done to all of mine), not due to durability, just preference.

Just looked... $892 for an MT10 is nuts, IMO.

I think you could address any irritation on that platform for much, much less $

ABSOLUTELY.

What do they do for the extra $540 😱

No DOUBT. 😳

The RTR with lipo como is $410 here and they're offering $60 off if you spend 400, so $350

^^^^THIS.

Ok I looked…they are just adding aluminum shocks, rpm arms, and a castle copperhead esc/motor combo, plus 125 labor to install it.

Not worth it to me. Get the truck and maybe the aluminum shocks. Rpm arms are cheap too but I’d wait and see if I had an issue with the stock ones. The esc/motor I would also hold off on until it became an issue

Edit they also add a savox servo

Definitely not worth it IMHO.

Definitely a no-go for me. They take the kit and mod it. So technically, it's a used RC to me. That knocks $60 off the price I'd pay on the RTR. All the parts they installed are now used as well. So cut the prices of all those. And pay them $125 to do the funnest part of putting it together? Nope. No thank you.

Not to mention does it come with all the stick parts?

Alrighty , the modded MT10 is not popular. Noted 😂 But that deal at RCHobby Explosion for the stock MT10 is enticing.
Hey, we can spend your money better than you can... 🤪

Are you sure $800 is all you have? :hehe:

After all this research and internal debate , I’ll be finally ordering the trucks in a couple days. Then the real fun begins 😃

Also , is Tekno owned by a larger company? Or are they independent?

Absolutely independent. I’d bet my paycheck they’re one of very few companies that will remain as such. 😎

That’s good to hear. I feel like a lot of huge companies buy up the smaller ones and then change things (and not for the better).
I seen that too many times. Pretty soon it will be uncontrollable large companies.

I doubt that you'll find a ET48 2.0 unless you happen to stumble upon a store "off the beaten path". If Fierce Pete/FierceRC doesn't have them, it's a good sign nobody else does either. I usually find the best price on Tekno kits at FierceRC... and not with a veteran's "discount". Use coupons for the best deal if you are squeezing all the $$ savings possible. The next revision of the Tekno ET48 will probably be out shortly. Everybody is waiting for that pre-order announcement.

Wait. What? Check expiration dates. I'm a big stickler for the freshest threadlocker I can get. I'll go out of my way to contact sellers to get a package code.
My locktite is older than @DavidB1126 and it works perfectly. The stick develops a bit of dried 'skin' if I do;mt use it for a bit but no issues in decades.
Maybe the new stuff fades. Dunno.

If nothing else, save a pic of this and build it yourself if its what you "love".
Nothing wrong with building what YOU want. Its a cool truck!
I don’t doubt that 😄

I figured $800 per vehicle was a good budget to begin with. I can always go up if want.
LMAO! "I can always go up "if I want"!!! 🤣🤣🤣 I wanted to be right around $800 35 years ago! (I'm SLIGHTLY over budget!)🤣🤣🤣

Got like 3 bottles of blue 243 loctite at harbor freight like last year and it lasts me forever. Also got a thread lock glue stick, I like the liquid better. At least for my smaller cars.

Liquid is great for getting "in" small places where the stick, i can just dab the screw in the goop and not be messing with caps and clogged tips. Thats wht I like both types. Whatever works for you.
You do you boooo??? I think @Littlemotor said? 🤣🤣🤣

Would you guys use double sided foam tape to secure an ESC to the chassis? Wouldn’t it lose its adhesion after a while?
Yes.

Mine hasn’t in two years between servicing. And I beat my shiit like it owes me money… 3M baby…🤘🍻

“Do you, boo-boo…”…

Not sure who said it first-Yogi Bear, or Katt Williams…🤷🏻‍♂️🤣

I use double sided foam tape on my receivers, but my ESCs have either screw tabs to secure them, or I use a tie wrap over the top.

The sole exception is my DR10, but as a drag car it doesn't suffer rough terrain.

All I have EVERY used is quality tape (currently 3M automotive trim tape, or gorilla gray), and clean both adhesion surfaces with a little undiluted simple green. Then I use 3-4 layers of the tape to provide the necessary cushion for the high dollar electronics. This SHOULD be obvious to anyone, but is unfortunately not.. In over 35yrs, I’ve never had an ESC fail due to chassis slaps, vibration, or hard hits. But I’ve seen a TON of other folks with that problem who only use a single layer of tape, or zip-ties, screws, etc.. Some folks use alcohol, acetone (um NO…), hot glue, shoe goo, etc, but I’ve never seen the need for any of that. Just my own personal experience, and it’s treated me very well. 🍻🤙

Great pics and info 👍 I know nothing about such things. Lots of learning going on.

All good brothaman-that’s what we’re alllllll here for. We do tend to be pretty good at spending other folks’ money as well, but you know…🤣
