Just wondering, I lost out on checking out the IFMAR that was an hour away from me but I did check out some of the interviews. I noticed there were only the Losi Kyosho and TA were really the only brands racing there. Any of you think that Traxxas will jump on this sort of thing or not?

I dont think they will, I mean for starters do Traxxas make a genuine 1/8th anything?
With the Slayer, Slash, new Revo, new Tmaxx, 16.8 Emaxx and E Revo, (and the rumoured 1/18 Revo) the boffins at Traxxas must need a good lie down right about now!
Let them work on sorting out an updated radio system and replacements for the TRX mills and the very tired Titan 550's.

Well, I think it's fairly obvious that the big Traxxas guys don't concern themselves too much with "win on sunday, sell on monday". I think it,s very unfortunate because they've proven that they can put out a world class winning vehicle (Revo). IMO, Traxxas is due for a REAL 1/8 scale buggy.

I highly doubt Traxxas would jump directly into racing again. Back in the early 90's, when they had the Eagle and the Cat (predecessors to the Rustler and Bandit, respectively), people raced them. However, Traxxas didn't have nearly the following that Associated and Losi had. Back then, they also had a 12th scale pan car (I had one; that little puppy was a blast).

If they did jump back into racing, it would probably be with a race edition Revo. I honestly don't think Traxxas could do a buggy that would be able to keep up with, say, a Losi or Associated, much less an older Mugen or Kyosho. Duratrax, maybe.

I think the Titans might win and yes I think that Traxxas will have to make something new (1/8) scale to compete. I no I like my 1/8th buggy more than what I had been running (Traxxas).

I'm not entirely sure plastic axles is a good idea in a 1/8th. :hehe:

Traxxas already have a race edition Revo, the Platinum.
Its a great ride after you spend an extra $200 to buy the RD Logic starter box.
Not to mention its the only Traxxas rc that isnt considered RTR.

Traxxas make good, durable, fun, RTR's. That is their base. They now again make a race worthy truck, and the Revo has won MANY races being the small block to beat. But I dont see them making a 1/8 ANYTIME soon, and if they do, it will not be nitro!

They are very quiet about their new products. It has been confirmed that they are making a crawler. As stated, they make just fun rtr rigs that anyone can get. But i also think that they are a force to be reckoned with with new and innovative ideas. such as the slash/slayer and the revo. I just can't wait to see what their next original idea shall be.....

agree with that 100%

I don't see Traxxas getting into buggy racing. They don't produce a premium quality anything. Their target audience is people wanting to buy a new toy ready to go. The Revo is their closest attempt at racing, and they don't offer a "factory kit", just the platinum. And frankly, there's A LOT of difference in the quality of the new high end buggies and the Revo. Traxxas is good at what they do, but they've shown zero interest in high end products other than an upgraded revo, which isn't anything close to what would be required of a high end racing buggy IMO. They tend to cater to the backyard basher, and those on a budget, rather than premium race products.

Traxxas will have to develop a better power system to compete with the new 1/8 scale factory electric buggies that are getting ready to make a BIG entrance at the track, if they plan to make a showing. Even if they do make an 1/8 scale buggy, I HIGHLY doubt it will be race quality, probably a backyard basher like the bandit.

As far as electrics go, most clubs are opening a slash only class. I dont see traxxas getting into seriously pro races, but spec classes are getting popular.

Man, wouldn't it be sweet if they came out with a Factory Team "pro" kit Slash, I would have to get two of em, again lol!

I would like to see a high quality traxxas product.. just to see how good they could really make a product but I think it is just to much work for them.. completely new truck new motor to power the truck all new parts.

Some one said earlier in this thread about a 1/12th revo anyone heard anything??

i think traxxas does make quality trucks. if you are talking about breakage , the other brands break just the same.
