when you said psychedelic, is it kinda like watching the original wizard of oZ and listening to The Dark Side of the Moon at the same time?...cause for some reason it all made sense to me.:)

I do like Pink Floyd, Stones are very cool, Led Zeppelin my wife loves...I think the only track I really dug was "stairway to heaven?!?!!... sorry I'm REALLY BAD with song titles and artist names.

I admit I love a lot of the pop music from that era, I could actually understand what the heck people were saying.

My to do list this wekend is to get some "Rush" I am always up for a new(to me at least) music experience.

Am I the only one who has never heard of RUSH?!?!?!

I must be living in a cave...
If ya are, I must be living next door, cuz I never heard of them either..lol...

Noone mentioned 2 live crew? "Oh, me soo hornay.. uh oh, me soo hornayy"

RUSH RULES!!!!

Come on guys.... I'm only 14 and I know who rush is, let alone they are one of my favorite bands. Nirvana is my second favorite. :D

My favorite 3 piece that I am listening to right now is :

CHEVELLE

I would have to vote for The Experience, Rush, and Cream as well...

Rush is funny to me. I have a friend that has been to an uncountable amount of Rush shows, and another who is a musician by profession... (both of them are huge Rush fans)...

I don't get the live stuff though. These guys are perfectionists. They don't mess up, their live stuff sounds just like the recorded stuff. I like the suddle differences in live vs. recorded music, and I don't find it with Rush. Sorry. But on talent.. Rush is king. On original sounds... Jimi... and on blues/feelings/and getting into it.. Cream (clapton is my 3rd favorite guitarist of all time.)

I mainly listen to Rap or Blues, so that would explain that. Also being a 80's band, I never really got into that type of music. (G n' R, and some of the hairbands I rocked out to, but thats about it)(I've never heard of "Cream" either. Unless your talking about the song C.R.E.A.M by Wu-Tang..lol.. I doubt it..lol.

I mean I know Clapton, Hes a god, but couldnt tell ya a song Cream done.. Owell

How come no one has mentioned The Jimi Hendrix Experience?

Now that's the ultimate trio of all time!!!!

Probably because they sound so big most people probably think there are 8 people in that band......

SD, HOW THE HELL can you listen to all those bands you mentioned and never hear of RUSH??...I don't really like them much (not for lack of talent just prefference) and I know who they are.....
as for the music in movies now, has anyone else noticed they use old iggy pop music for Disney commercials and sex pistols songs for car ads?!?!?! it is true Punk is dead.....I'll be in mourning

I have about 1500 CDs you can thumb through if you'd like.
Robmob and I know your collection WELL! LMAO
I have to say, you do take your music seriously, Or is all 5000 lbs worth of your sound system just for show. :p:

You do have one SWEET ASS setup. It surprised me that you didn't know who Rush was. Even if you don't particularly like the songs you will enjoy its quality and creativity. Neil Peart is by far the best drummer ever. Most drummers in the world feel he is "The One"

Growing up I played the violin until the age of 14. My love for music started with classical and is still my number one favorite. All through life I have met and made friends with people from many different cultures and backgrounds. Often they have introduced me to their type of music. After listening to a song I liked, I'd buy an album or if I couldn't find the album, I'd pick up a compilation album that had the song I liked and that further introduced me to new artists and bands. For some reason RUSH was never on any of those compilations. But I guess that explains why my music tastes span such a wide range. I have pretty much every genre covered except country and metal and punk.

After looking at that link Ed, the background music sounds VERY familiar to me. I have a feeling it's going to sound nice on the home system. I checked TARGET last night and they didn't have Rush, I'll run out at lunch to a local record shop and see what they have.

jimi's experience projects w/noel redding and mitch mitchell were merely jimi's creations w/a backing band. so sufficated, reddin left b/c he wanted to do some leads of his own. jimi did his own projects, w/band of gypsys (billy cox and buddy miles), gypsys moons and rainbows, and other combinations w/a rash of others artists, some still unknown. and known that there is another 2 albums worth of material from jimi that has never seen light of day.

remember jimi's 35th anniv of dod is sunday.

this as opposed to cream where all 3 pieces are an integral role. to just think of clapton b/c its a name u recognize is very short sighted. jack bruce w/the base lines (frets, fretless, and upright) and vocals. and of course ginger baker w/the jazz style double bass drum. the guy built his own drum sets from scratch before he could afford them.

when they play those reunion shows next mth, its gonna be magic. i'd like to go, see if its possible.

found this on jack bruce's site. that ginger's high hats are the same sets used in '68 includin the final show at the fillmore.

I'd like to run the Dixie Pigs over a few dozen times with my car. Frickin whores. Rush way up there on the top of the list. Nirvana, and the Police. Is Jack Johnson a three or four man band, have a couple of his cd's but never paid attention.
