true, but your bash buddies are gonna laugh their asses off.

towers hobbies ships to Canada.

Although this fellow appears to be banned, I'll still ask the question.

How did you afford the nitro R/C at all if you can't throw down a few more bucks for the glow igniter? Not to mention, Fuel isn't exactly free and there's the seemingly endless cost of replacement parts for things you break, wear out, and fall off. It's just a part of the hobby.

If you can't buy a $30CDN glow igniter, then perhaps you should look into another hobby because you're going to be banging your head on the desk everytime you need to buy something for it.

Well I have been looking to off a Canadian for a long time. I live in Southern California, so I don't get up there that often. Last year when I was driving truck on the Alcan I didn't have time to stop and off any and I need a fix.
Flamez, if I were you I would order from www.towerhobbies.com since you are so paranoid about Americans. I order about $1500 to $2000 in products each year from them and they have never over charged me for anything. If you are not satisfied with anything you buy from them just send it back and they will gladly refund your money.
I figured I would offer since I have had this glow plug ignitor sitting in my tool box as a back-up for about 12 years and have never used it. I have 3 rechargeable ignitors and will never use it.

Guys, I wouldn't fret over this dude. Not worth the effort or the boost in blood pressure.

Bill, it was nice of you to offer, but some people just want to bitch about stuff when folks are trying to help.

Seems the only thind that duratrash make good are the glow igniters :flamer:

If you go to your local track with all of your gear, and then ask if someone has a spare ignitor, they will probably let you keep it if you slip them some cash.

Then next week, you could hit them of for some spur gears and glow plugs.

I was wondering where my lucky phillips head screw driver went.

i went to my LHS today..and i went for mainly 1 thing.. and left with 8 things..I bought a Power Racing Products glowplug igniter, Dubro fuel filter,2 packs of HPI X-pattern tires, anttena tube, body clips, power switch/battery connections, fuel tubing and a motor saver air filter..seems like a start. lol

hehe. LHS=nitro crakhouse. I try to avoid 2 places: 1) the LHS, and 2) BestBuy.

This may be a stupid question, but would it be possible to start an engine without a glow plug ignitor if you got it hot enough with a heat gun.

Actually, it is possible to start an engine without an ignitor. The glow plug coil is really a catylist and not an ignitor for the F/A mix. I have witnessed it once with an airplane engine. But the F/A mix has to be dead on, and the plug has to be pristine. The heat on the coil burnd the contaminates off and lets the platinum do it's catylist thing (of corse, the heat also aids in making the F/A go bang). It is rare, but it does happen.

i started in the hobby with very short supply of operating tools, like glow plug igniter, pump, starter, but i still love this hobby.. I'm on electrics for some time but some are what we call TOYS cheap electrics with remote controls ( not radio ). for igniters i use 4 700mah nicad where i found on cordless drill ( broke of course ) hook up 2 small alligator clip with long wires and charge it up with multi voltage power supply ( i put a resistor between the wires because it is power supply not a charger ),charging for 4 hours gives me 3 days non stop engine fire...
