I bought an O.S. 18 engine that came with a #8 glow plug.
It says in the manual that came with the engine that an A-5 or R-5 could be substituted.
Could you folks tell me the reason for different plugs.I assume it's temp, humidity and stuff like that. But which one is for which?
I want to have plugs on hand but would like to understand what's what 1st.
PS: I'm almost ready to fire this bad boy up. My son is all excited. I hope I didn't screw it up by taking it apart. A definite learning experience.

I just talked to the LHS that sold me the O.S. Engine and they said they run the #3 plug all year.
