I've been out of the hobby for about a year now and I'm gonna get me a new nitro, just don't know which one, I enjoy working on them as much as I do playing with them so I'd like one with a lot of mod choices, I'm thinking a t maxx or a revo but if anyone has any suggestions I'm open to them. Thanks

Of the two, the Revo is the better choice. It has a better suspension and with a few options it can out-handle almost any m/t out there.

Has anyone ever had any experience with the hpi buggies?

I've had a trophy 3.5 buggy for over a year now. Upgraded the shocks servos steering arms and put a good set of tires and dish wheels on it and beat the heck out of it. No major problems yet. I'm very happy with the purchase of it. In the process of building a hot bodies D8T truggy now.

shop around in the 1/8 scale. there are a lot of choices. I would recommend Losi, Mugen, Kyosho, or knock off Kyosho known as Team Associated.

Get a 1/8 nitro buggy, most are pretty tuff & will take alot of abuse & bashing & then if you want you can race them which is much better than just bashing & jumping crap.
Most buggies are pretty good these days, (well unless you get HSP crap or similar anyway), & parts are easy to get to.
I have 2 buggies, both JQ Products, One "THE Car" RTR version which is a great rtr buggy, shares 50% of parts with the pro kit & virtually all other pro kit parts will also fit right on, 1 of the best rtr's on the market. I also have the "THE Car" Yellow Edition pro kit, its a great buggy, very strong like the rtr & has a huge amount of adjustments that can be made, they are a very good buggy & the JQ Products company is always trying & testing new thing, like the recently released wide chassis & new alternative steering set up.
Best of all is the JQ Products customer service, its brilliant & second to none. How many company owners & car designers will get on a forum & facebook & speak to their customers, same with the team manager & marketing manager, no other company does that. If I happen to have a problem I can go straight to the top people & don't even have to go to the place I purchased my buggies from. If you decide on a 1/8 nitro buggy then check out JQ Products, (facebook, website & rc tech forum)

Haha very true. A friend of mine has a mini MGT that has given him nothing but trouble the day he bought it. Even know I told him not to buy it. :p:

If you like working on and repairing your car, Traxxas is a great choice - you will never be bored or have too much money if you own a Revo.

In all fairness, the Revo is a great bashing car and ok with the 3.3 - but they are not made to take a big block - soon as I went to a big block there were heaps of mods and the play/repair ratio went out the window - as in 10 minutes play/45 minutes repair.

If ya want to bash - and dont mind a small block - Revo's are ok.

If ya like to jump and drive circuits and want a big block, go a car made for it - a buggy if you want something zippy, or a truggy if you want something with a little character.

Losi have just released a 3.0 buggy . . . keep your eyes open for 8ight B2s or an 8T2.

It really just depends on what you would like to do with your car on what you should buy. Your driving style and the terrain around you that you will be driving on. Although i will say a revo does need a few mods with a big block but if you put a picco .26 in really all you need to upgrade is the front and rear drive axles to steel and a picco mount for the motor. I love my t maxx but it is limited to a small block besides a os .21 which from what i hear the .18 is just as fast just doesn't have as much grunt.
