I'm in a group on facebook and theres a few guys who prefer to run a smaller 2440 brushless motor (14th scale car) over say a 2838 or 2845 which when geared right they both draw the same amps but the smaller motor always runs hot. They prefer to run fans on the smaller motor to keep it cool and i guess in the end its the same end result i guess rather then going to the next size up motor which still fits with no issues other then you go from a 2.3mm pinion to a 3.17

I can't understand running a motor on the edge of meltdown rather then one that doesn't even break a sweat, run times are the same speed is the same

I usually go for larger/cooler... then I end up gearing higher anyway and still need fans. lol! But I don't really run crawlers, other than my stock scx24 that I've driven like 5 times in 2 years around my house.
