Looking for a charger to do the following:

Charge a 5 cell hump pack for receiver (1100 mah NiMH pack)

Charge a single cell glow ignitor (2000 mah NiMH)

Optionally: charge an xmitter pack.

I dont know if all 3 (or even the first two) things can be done together at once in one charger, but that would be my ultimate goal (I want to keep things clean instead of having separate chargers for everything).

Fast charge capability would be cool as well.

I know the SuperBrain 959 is recommended quite a bit, but I dont know how I would use it to charge 2 separate batteries at once (well, I figure I can get a y-connector..........but how would I get an adapter to plug into the end of a glow ignitor? I've never seen one of those).

Thanks in advance!!!

That seems to be exactly what I need!! Just dont like the 12V requirement.

I wonder, has anyone ever tried tapping into the red and black battery terminal clips, and installed a regular power adapter jack, and then gotten a universal power adapter from Radio Shack to plug into the new jack? The only thing Id worry about is the current draw thru the jack itself, if its too high it might melt it. But if we could get the specs we could make it work, no?

I just use a cigarette lighter adapter I have from something else.
When I'm in the shop I hook it up to my starter box.

It would be the perfect setup id it came with a wall plug.

Is the current draw listed somewhere on the case? (is that number required to be listed somewhere?)

Just wondering if its possible to use an off the shelf adapter, or build an AC-DC converter (my dad built an AC-DC converter so we can check auto electronics on the workbench, but I dont know how many amps it can handle).

Cool, thanks.

Its not that I mind buying a field setup (lead acid battery, power panel, etc), its just that Id have to charge that too. Almost a catch 22.

Or I try to find a charger with as many features, I might have better luck with that (maybe).

Try looking into a LRP brand & you can get a novak 10amp power supply to use indoors

Well, the internet has lead me to this :

http://www.marcee.org/Articles/PCPowerSupply.htm

Since I'm a computer geek, I have a bunch of power supplies sitting around doing nothing. doesn't look like very much work to make it work as an indoor 12V power supply. Plus the 12V line on most PC power supplies is rated VERY high for what a charger needs (one of my spares is rated at 18 amps, even if its only 50% efficient, 9 amps is plenty for a charger).

NOTE: I also noticed the Double Vision charger uses a 4amp fuse, so I guess its max of a 4 amp draw at 12V.
