i have a maximum bx and it starts fine and all but when i pick it up off the ground the wheels take off like a banshee.
i just replaced the clutch and spur gear.
did i do something wrong?
if i full brake it doesn't stall or anything.

also i think my servo or bec is shot. how can i test each with out just ordering new parts. the steering servo doesn't seem as strong as it used to. i havent driven it in a long time, but it wont turn all the way i know that.

Does it had a tendency to roll when you have it idling? If so either your clutch spring is too loose or your idle is a little too high, I'd opt for working on the idle first.

it doesn't want to go anywhere with wheels on the ground ...ill try what you suggested though.
how do i check the clutch spring? its new clutch. how about the nut on the spur gear how tight should that be?

also any ideas on the servo?

Checking the idle is a good move, make sure the trim knobs on you transmitter are set to zero.

my maximum st (same car just made into a stadium truck) did the same thing. I had the idle stop screw (the black one) set too high. Just give it a little turn couterclock wise. If your rig dies after that, you need to play with your needle settings. I think it could also be that your slipper is too tight? you'd have to confer with an expert on that. I'm just a newbie. But if you just replaced the clutch it's possible... right guys?

check your idle screw first, then check your slipper. I don't know how tight the slipper should be on that truck.

whats a good starting point for the slipper? i mean i can crank it down as far as it will go then back of some ?

the instructions that came with my max st basically said it depends on the terrain. If your wheel slip when you gun it, it's too tight.

hey novice rob when you close your carb as far as it will go ....by either full brake or trim knob ........do you see a small square opening in the bottom right corner inside ?

if so what is it and doesn't it then cause more airflow into the carb?

when i do full brake ...how much of the round hole insdide the carb should be visible?

i think i lost you ......ok when you look in the carb(air intake - the hole covered by the air filter) .........when you close your carb as far as it will go ....by either full brake or trim knob ........do you see a small square opening in the bottom right corner ?

the red line is pointing down the air cleaner is this the view you are talking about?

yes

i wish i had a digital camera.
that image that has the
ok full throttle you see a wide open circle in there correct?
now when you close the throttle, do you see a small square opening appear in the bottom right of the air intake opening?

The tiny little square you are talking about, and the one in your attachment, would be the track that the idle screw rides in.

You want to have a small, aprox. 1mm opening when you apply the brake, or the throttle is closed, just like in the center circle, or it will stall if the barrel completeley closes, as in the first circle.
