Big event this weekend. Got sick so I'm behind where I'd like to be but feel good about these.

Uh, rough weekend for me. Never got the super street dialed. Mud boss I got an early jump from 5th to third, then some people that really shouldn't have been racing took me out, then they took out the tq/leader. There needs to be some consistency or lap # to qualify for mains even if it's not a deep field. Just can't have guys running 4 second laps with guys running 6 second laps and clueless.

As a clueless driver, I completely agree!!! 🥸🤣

This is a big part of what drove me away from racing oval. Sucks bad.

I was just there to have a good time and not take anything too seriously but it was enraging after dealing with it for 2 seasons. I regularly ran in the top 3 in any given race. There were a handful of drivers that would absolutely clobber anybody in their way. The final straw was getting smashed in the entry to turn 1 by a car that was 3 laps down. Dude hit me so hard it bent all my rear hinge pins. I packed up and left and never came back. This was in the middle of a season where I finished every 12T Mudboss race in P2 to a guy who blatantly cut every single corner. OOF

yeah, there can be problematic drivers for sure. and if the race director isn't handling things because they are friends or whatever reason it can really get ugly. There's a couple guys i just wont race with if they show up. They are best friends and they take people out to help eachother. like, if you pass one the other one will literally cross the track to take you out. After that happened a few times i just lost all respect for them. and of course these are the biggest cry babies if anyone touches them accidentally or not. They have an entitled attitude to winning a gold sticker at club races that's just unearned and undeserved.

But, i think that's both the excitement and downside of oval racing. The excitement is being wheel to wheel on the track, going 2-3 wide, trying to time your pass, trying to avoid getting passed, but doing it cleanly and fairly. Being so close in racing is going to make opportunities happen for accidental, or not so accidental, contact. I think 90% of the guys i race with are super clean, supportive of each other in wins or losses, and just generally good people. But, there is that 10% that might have a fast car but lack the sense of karma, for lack of a better term, that keeps them clean and honest.

You summed it up well. I've competed in just about every class imaginable for both on-road and off-road racing over the years. Clean oval racing is more exciting and fun than any other form of racing I've competed in. There's constant action.

Also, that's absolutely insane to hear about two friends wreaking havoc like that. I've never had the joy of dealing with something like that before. I would be furious lol.

yeah i havent seen those two around in quite a while. thankfully they found other things to occupy their time than wrecking other people and crying about not winning. I agree that oval is one of the most exciting formats for racing. I think people who don't understand often think it's easy, it's just turning left, you just let off the throttle a little bit and then go. but it's much much more than that. usually everyone is trying to beat the track. past weekend was the millionth time i've raced there but the track was completely new to me. it had WAY more grip than i had ever experienced or tuned for and i couldn't figure it out in time. The asymmetrical setups and tuning is completely unique to oval racing and a great challenge for those that like to tinker. There's always a little animosity between the die hard oval guys and off road guys at the facility. it's usually pretty light hearted but being someone that enjoys both its funny to hear the oval guys talk about how dumb jumping cars is and the off-road guys completely miss the excitement of oval racing. i enjoy both but the oval, for me, i know i'm gonna have a good time regardless of where i finish. when i race off road it's lonely. I'm usually mid pack by myself with some sponsored pro driver dancing his car around me like i'm standing still :D
