Plaid- The 3pk has a number of different options. You can program just about anything to just about any button. The're is a dial on the right side toward the top that can be programmed for 3rd channel I believe. Currently, I have that dial programmed to adjust my 3rd channel EPA so I can control how hard my hand brake brakes. I use another handy button to activate my 3rd channel. Press on, release off. Or, press on, press off. You can do so much with these high end Rx it's crazy.

probably in the Tx.....there might be an A to D converter in the Rx for each channel but I doubt it...the same processor for CH-1 & 2 could probably be used for 3.....even if the limit is in the RX you could always go to a 4CH RX.....all they'd need is an 8bit processor to get the job done.....that would still give 255 incriments af adjustment......the trick is getting a Tx that handles the 3rd channel as analog.......I'd hate to have to get a $500 heli controller just to make this happen......

Actually, my JR XS3 has the capability to do the boat mixing thing already. So the above may be a bit overkill. Does anyone have a boat that knows how its fuel mixing function works? Is it a bulky system, or something that may be wedged under the body of a buggy?

Lessen, I started setting up the 3PK I got from slothy last nite...nice radio...after the first menu navigation I used the book for the rest were very intuitive...nice radio...glad I held out for one..and I'm on DSM Baby!!!!!...I had a chance to get an R-1, just for the price I was gonna take it.....do I need to set it to level 3 to see mixing features? I set it to 2...easy enough to change though....
do you know if there is a way to program the dial to be the 3rd channel??? if so I think I have all i need to make a remote HSN adjuster.....I already have one of those bendy screwdrivers to rip apart for the screw control.......this would be cool if I can make it work.....can you imagine being able to richen up your car when it starts lean bogging....or lean it out when it's a pig.......and never leave the stand

plaidfish wat i would do is...well i made a drawing but when i uplaod it to photobucket it gets all fuzzy?

my idea will basically be a micro servo w/ a whip from the servo horn to the HSN screw.....only way to adjust it would be w/ the 3rd channel though......post your pic and we'll see what ya got.....and another 20% goes to MGT kid...lol

Plaid- ok, I checked this out real quick. I have mine set so I have all three menu screens. If you go to "MENU 2" you will see "FUNC-DIAL" 2nd from the bottom on the right column. Go to that. Scroll to "DL3" and change the dial setting to "CH3". Then just choose your increments and normal/reverse. Good to go. Just gotta rig up that servo. If you do this make sure you take plenty of progress pics, I'd LOVE to see how well you get it to work. I think it's an awesome idea.

Well here it is plaidfish its kind of a bad drawing but its the best i could do i hope you understand it.

Kid that's a clever design but I think it needs to be a little more substantial.....
I went home at lunch and was looking at the parts I ad for this and found my screwdriver to be missing from the bendy spring thing.....anyone know where to get the screwdrivers w/ the bending tips from? I checked grainger and harbor freight and couldn't find it......
Lessen can the dial then control incriments or does it just have ON/OFF capability.....
this would be real cool if this is as simple as I think it can be.....

Damn, and to think I just got my R-1 in the mail today. I'm going to see if I can find on ebay a 4 channel helicopter receiver and see if adding a knob to the transmitter will work.

Regarding the mechanism that would turn the HSN, how about a micro servo turned upside down...with a custom horn/servo mount made to slip over the HSN and a small blade inside the horn to turn the HSN. Take out the end stops on the servo like Plaid explained and allow it to turn 360 degrees. The servo mount could be made to attach to the side of the carb neck or off one of the engine mounting holes...it needs to be stout enough to not move out of adjustment when the car takes a tumble.

yeah that was the first thought, then I took a micro servo and placed it on top of the HSN...it sticks out too far.....you can tuck a micro servo neatly on the inside of the pipe next to the engine though....

making a hard linkage I think would be asking for trouble
then I thought of the bendy driver...all it is a knuckled screwdriver w/ a flex shaft.....need to find a tiny one...I'm going to pop's shop saturday...bet I can find one there....

i thought my idea was great! to bad i still think it is the best way but lets see who can make one first! then give the other 30%! lol

i got some of those bendy screwdriver things somewere but there long.. like 8 to 10 inches.. ill see if i can find a shorty one.. great idea plaid.. but you may look into useing gears instead of the bendy thing.. just an idea..

wow guys, havent looked here in a while but...............

check out RC boat or airplane/heli stuff. they have remote needles, mixture adjusted by a servo. its all ready to go. bolt it on, add the servo, and your good.

oh, and by the way plaid, your 3pm controller can actuate the 3rd channel as analog. just reassign the switch that controls CH3 to SW3 or SW4 and switch CH3 to analog/linear mode. I'm going to use it to control the trim on my boat for a winter project.

YOU DA MAN COrrado....that's exactly the info I wanted...I have to admit lessen I didn't get a chance to go through the menu like you said...I finished me buggy rebuild and decided it needed to be road tested last night w/ new radio gear/P-5 and JP-1 pipe....I ran a 13t CB so it reached full RPMs in like 15 ft....HOLY CRAP that thing has punch.....NO TOP end though....haven't set up the PC inthe new place so I'm avoiding online sessions at night for a while....I'm hitting the LHS today for linkage options on this setup......

the only reason I was thinking the bendy driver is if we can make a clamp type hold for it to stay on the HSN it would be more of a universal fit....Beason those are exactly what I'm lookin for...U can always make em shorter but making them longer is just a bit harder

ill see if i can find um.. we moved about 6 months ago and i still havent gotten the garage set up all the way yet..

I know that feeling....I've had a month and I'm unpacking stuff as I need it.....I was hoping to be super motivated and have it all unpacked w/in a month.....I guess having to move about 90% of my poop alone knocked the wind out of my sails......I'm wondering which one of my friends is going to ask me for help first so I can tell em they're number one in sign language......

just got back from LHS.....this design has been done to so many RCs....they have a savage w/ a simple design done to it.....looks like I can't have my cake and eat it too....I wanted a set up where you can just ando the device / linkage from the HSN and use a screwdriver when you wanted to......just JB weld a servo horn to the HSN and limit the EPA and glue the micro servo to the chassis......
Another idea stolen long before we came up w/ it...Damn
