what is the difference between a 2 channle and a 3 channle radio? what does the channle on a radio mean?

1=Steering (Left and Right)
2=Throttle and Brake
3=Reverse or some other function.

My third channel on my rx is always the transponder supply.

Hey Jet, could you elaborate on the 3rd channel being a transponder supply?
I don't follow that exactly.

Thanks,

Jeep

Jeep if you use a personal transponder (the lap counter TX)...you need to power it...the easiest way is to just use the 3rd channel, a persoanl Trans. has a wire for the RX in your car....which comes to Skeeter's Question, NO....most races do not allow reverse....and if you race you really want to convert it to a Forward Only anyway....racing kills rev modules quick.....

oh ok..... wer=ll i have an rc10gt and wanted to upgrade the raio stystem in the future to a spektrum dx2 which only come with a 2 channle radio and just wanted to know if u=i start racing if i need a 3 channle.

Sorry, should have been a little more clear. Plaid splained it all. I pretty much only race and none of my rides have reverse but I have 3 channel rx's. I have a personal transponder in each one of my racer's so rather than a 'Y' cable it gets it power feed from the unused 3rd channel. Sorry for any confusion.

To run a "Personal" Transponder, you will need that 3rd channel, or a Y splitter. However, most tracks have the rechargeable transponders that they will lend out before your heat. No wires, just clip em on your body. The only drawback to these, is that you will have to run up before your heat, get one and return it right after your heat is done... Kinda a hassle...

Huh? :ponder2:

Oh, and if you do go with the track provided transponder, don't wait for your racing buddy (i.e. Jet) to tell you that you need to punch a hole in your body 10 seconds before your heat for the transponder to attach to! It was the beginning of my bad mojo racing day!

,,OK,,that made it make sense to me :),,thanks,,
I was under the assumption that transponders ran on their own battery power.

Jeep

the track provided ones do...but they are larger to hold the battery and some people actually believe shavign the 20grams from the transponder by using your RX pack power really makes a difference.....
