i know i've asked a million times....but i REALLY want a buggy, but everyone keeps telling me they're not as durable as a mt like a savage. i'll ask once more, just to make sure. is the ofna hyper pbs as durable or close to the savage ss? i need durability more than anything else, but i'd REALLY like the handling of a buggy...

oh and if there's any ther buggy you know for sure is close to the durability of a savage, please let me know. it can't be more than $450.

THANK YOU

two different worlds there bud!! the savage is built more for bashing than for racing so its durability is endless . The buggys are designed more for racing so handling is the key factor.Yet you can get a buggy that is plenty strong and handles very well and that would be the K2...but good luck finding one for 450.00 the cheapest I've found one is at my LHS for 559.00 and Tower hobbies sells them for 579.00.....

well i'm bashing only...and jumping really high. i don't race at all and have no plans to, but i'd really like the handling of a buggy over the savage. but i'm not sure which is more durable, athough i think it's the savage...

Durability is all relative and money can certainly play a role in that.

Directly speaking, I would put most 1/8 scale buggies in the same class of durability as the Savage. You do, however, have operating limitations. The Savage can go almost anywhere without too much problem. The buggy is limited by ground clearance.

As far as damages, I'd say that a quality buggy is going to be pretty darn hard to break. I have seen GS Storm, K buggies, and MBX buggies do some hard core stuff with no damages. My Mugen flys, cartwheels, and keeps on moving. Even with a chassis tension bracket broken the thing still hauled the mail and flew well.

The Savage...just plain a beast, but lacking in speed when compared to the buggies.

So...based on my experience, the K series buggies and the Mugen MBX-5 are definitely on par with the Savage for durability. I can say without hesitation that the Storms that I have witnessed in action are also pretty darn tough.

what buggys are are for bashing to buggys will hold up better then mts when it comes to bashing.they are not just for racing..ill run aginest a savage or any other mt all day long and i guarantee.ill be left standing at the end of the day.can't say that for the mt...

I have seen El Pirata do some wicked things to his Storm and seen it come back for more. They may be weak, but that is again, relative. I am not promoting the Storm...just giving information on what I know or have witnessed. I personally own a Savage and a Mugen MBX-5. Both are beasts. Both do crazy things and survive. My buggy is much faster and flies much farther than my Savage...but the Savage goes just about anywhere, hits many things, and keeps on going.

Got to go with zandor on this one the buggies can take on hell of a beating my pbs has landed on its lid from 15 to 16 feet in the air and flip it back on its wheels and off it goes. Do that in a mt with out roll cages and kiss that lid good bye. The buggies can bash with the best of them. Go with the buggy dude.

which would be better for me. this will be my only vehicle. i run on a fairly smooth surface with one hge jump that i get 12-15 ft off. right next to it there's a huge steep rocky hill i like to climb and then jump off. i'm thinking the savage would be better for me...am i right??

Buggies

It defenately depends on the quality of buggy i have the Ofna Violator and that things been apart more times then it has seen the dirt I'm with zandor and ryhton on the pbs that setup is sweet I've seen it first hand. Go Buggy!

Depending on your definition of rocky, you might need the Savage for ground clearance.

If, however, you main playground is the smoothed surface with huge jump that you described...you will enjoy it more with a buggy.

Sure, there are always the exceptions but on the whole, the hobby is all about 1/8 scale buggies. They are the epitome of RC.
Just about evert part of a buggy is over-engineered for toughness.

K, I'll get off the soap box now. Sorry, Thanks for listening. LOL

what about an x-terminator deluxe? i can get it for 425 rtr, it's easy for me to get parts. good, durable buggy? i know the engine is awesome in it...

now i'm really considering the x-terminator deluxe, just cuz it's easy to get parts for me and the engine kicks ass...this is such a hard desicion lol

you didn't have to post if you were gonna yell at me on the internet like a little bitch that hasn't hit puberty yet

Two points:
1. Posting in all caps is considered yelling. In this particular case, it was uncalled for.
2. If you are going to post in all caps, it had better be something important and be of substance. This kind of thing is considered rude. Please refrain from such posts.

My son has the x-terminator deluxe. I can tell one thing. He went out of range and TRS broke from a jump and went straight into the main street. It was ran over by not 1 but 2 cars. Only thing happened is bent rear shock tower, 1 broken rear shock, and broke 2 fins on the head. everything else was in perfect condition. Even the chassis was straight.

hmmm...maybe i should get the x-terminator deluxe instead of the savage...it sounds super durable, it has an awesome engine, easy for me to get parts, and it's a buggy!!

o well, i'll probably change my mind 1000x befor i actually buy something...
