Hi guys, I am new to this forum and RC in general. I have been toying with friends rc cars for about a year or so. I decided that it's time I get my own truck. I am really into the off road scene. My best friend has a TMAXX and I love the way the truck looks. I just want something different. I was looking at the HPI rock crawlers but they all seem to be electric and I am not really a fan of electric. I was looking at the Savage XL but it seems to have more of a stadium car stance and not so much of a monster truck stance. I was hoping that you guys could point me in the right direction and suggest a few trucks for me. Thanks in advance.

I was checking out the LST XXL...I really like the 1/8 scale stuff as all my friends have 1/10 scale so I guess I am really looking for 1/8th scale trucks although I am not totally opposed to 1/10 scale

The Savage x is a 1/8 scale and it will be bigger and a lot tougher than your buddies Maxx. I'm a big fan of the Savage X 4.6 but I also really like the LST line of trucks....just for the record the LST's are more stadium truck like than a Savage but still a huge monster truck.

O seem to be noticing that most of the 1/8 stuff is more like a stadium truck. I was looking at the HPI Nitro Monster king but I don't like how the engine is in there....seems like it would have cooling issues but what do I know :) Are there any 1/8 scale actual monster trucks other than that one?

Traxxas Revo is a good sized machine as well, even though it's only a 1/10th scale. It's as big as my old 1/8th scale Warhead ;-) Fast, good for bashing OR racing...and tons of hop ups available as well. If you plan to beat the snot out of it....a Savage is tough to beat though. Revo is durable, but not as much as a Savage.

LST 2 is a VERY VERY nice truck as well.

If you're going to Bash, go savage. It will be 50x tougher than a T-Maxx. If you want to race/bash and beat the T-maxx, go with a Revo.

I might go with the savage XL are there hop ups available other than the ones on the HPI site? What about hop ups for the Losi LST XXL?

I have it narrowed down to 3. The candidates are Losi LST XXL, HPI Savage XL and the Associated MGT 8.0. Now an I reading this correctly that the MGT 8.0 has almost twice the motor of the other 2 trucks?

heres my list

1.Losi lst xxl
2.Savage xl
3.mgt 8.0

i heard that the savage xl engine doesn't last that long. Also the losi lst xxl goes 50+mph when broken in and tuned. The mgt 8.0 does have a bigger engine than the losi xxl and the savage, but it doesn't mean it's a good truck(might be never owned one)

Heard bad things about the 8.0 but I hear the 4.6 se is really nice, but for a durable truck my opinion is with the savage X & XL though i have never had the losi me and 3 of my friends all just bash and we all have savages so its fun but they almost never break no matter what we do to them, another way to help you choose is to see what parts your LHS has in stock like HPI LOSI or Traxxas that always helps me choose a lil bit.
Anyway good luck with your new truck whichever you choose.

I'm Not Sure If this is all savages but where we bash the guys diffs are continuly bloowing up :\
