If you've seen my other thread, you know I have a new CX3 heli. I've come to the conclusion that I need a bigger area to learn how to fly this crazy thing,so today I asked for permission to use the gymnasium at our church. Permission was granted,in fact they said I could use it any time I wanted

This afternoon we(my son and I) packed up our toys and headed to the church for a bit of flying fun. My son took his 2 Havoc helis,I had my CX3 and I also took a micro airplane that I bought several months ago and have never had it out of the box. It's basically the same as an Air Hogs just by a different company. Here's a pic of our flight group.

We had a blast! However I think flying a heli just isn't my thing. The list of broken parts is growing quick! Today I broke another upper and lower rotor, another lower rotor head, the landing skid and put a hole in the tail section of the body. All before running through one battery pack

I'm not saying I can't/won't learn to fly this thing, but, it may be a long and costly ordeal :\

Heres' some pics of today's damage. We have some video and I'll try to post it tomorrow night.

you need some crash gear!! it will keep it from tipping over until you can get the hang of it!!

You guys have a cool arsenal of flying toys. That's real nice of the church folks to let you guys use the gym. Perfect place to kill a winter Sunday afternoon.

Do NOT try to fly it. Seriously. Learn to hover. The easiest way to do that is to stand behind the tail with the heli pointing away from you. That way, the heli will move exactly the same way the stick moves. When that becomes second nature, start to hover nose in.

Just remember...
Take offs are optional. Landings are mandatory.

Actually,I already had a set but I had just finished repairing the heli while listening to my son nagging the whole time to "hurry up!". I thought I'd save time and put them on when I got to the church but in our haste to leave I forgot to pick it up take it with me.

Ummm... Perhaps practice lanting on the SKIDS, not the BLADES??? :D

So THAT's my problem.........

But that takes patients and I'm not a doctor, I have no patients :p:

Here's a short video compilation from our afternoon of flying fun. I didn't edit out my crashes,my son just didn't get any of them on video :p:
