the rc bug bit me when i was about 4 or 5, used to go with my dad to the local carpet track and watch him race his RC10L (which he still has). When I was about 6 got my first electric rc truck. It was from sears don't remember the name of it. Had that for a while then the reciever in it went so that got tossed in the trash. For about 10 years I was put of the hobby. Then I was working for a landscaping company makeing some decent money. Needed something to spend it on, then I remembered my old rc truck. So I went online did some research, and finally settled on my Savage SS that I have now.

About three years ago My older brother was talking about Radio Shack's zip zaps. I suddenly realized that I was old enough to buy my own RC car. (and so what that I'm in my 40's) The first one I got was this Aladdin 20$ Viper. It took me a bit of looking around before I got hooked up with hobby quality RC's and nitro.

When I was a kid asking my depression era parents for the type of money required for an RC (if they even existed at the time) Was like asking for a hundred pound brick of gold to play with. It just wasn't going to happen.

as far as getting the chicks:
I had one girlfriend that asked me to chase her with my Mini-t. She was really cool.
(She found out about my RC hobby later on after we started dating)

A family friend was throwing away a Kyosho Sandmaster ST the would not run. My son asked him for it, and about $50 later I had it running (even 3 years ago you couldn't find parts for that damn thing). Well it broke and sat for about 2 years. Finally pulled it out of the mothballs and the OS .10 fired right up. Found some parts on e-bay and put it back together and I decided I wanted one, and there was the T-Maxx... Sandmaster falls apart again, my son (15 yo) has some coin and I get him a Nitro Sport SE. Now my other son (11 yo) is into it of course, and after a few sessions of breaking dad's Maxx, I decide it's time to get him his own. A used Sportmaxx from e-bay shows up about a week later. Now my 15 year old wants a Maxx because he breaks his truck quite often, and he see the HUGE pile of parts I've amassed for the Maxx. So, once he sells the Sport, there will be 3 Maxxs in the house (and one really aggravated wife!)

Since this thread was resurected, I'll resurect my original response

My wife wanted one. Believe it or not.
We were at the airplane field. One of my buddies had a Rustler there. She had to have a car. Haven't flew for sometime. :cheerful:

My dad bought a Great Planes Real Flight simulator, and a few months after, bought our first r/c plane. A year or so after, I got my first r/c car, the rest is history. Now i'm trying to get into r/c helis.

Many moon's ago, I bought a used beat to hell Tamia hornet. That's when I got the bug. then after never being able to find part's for it I got a rustler, then a RC10T, RC10T2, RC10T3, a couple of bolink cars, then a RC10B4. Then a Divorce. Took a brake from RC's for a while. Got married to my old high school sweetheart and finally bought a used Ofna Ultra GT. Now the nitro bug kick's in then a savage, and a used Ofna MP. The rest is still in progress.

It all started with a Kyosho Optima Mid SE which I got from my dad... Amazing car, I wish I still had it :(
Then later I got a Kyosho 4WD thing dunno the type, a Lancia Delta Integrale with a Porsche body on it... I raced it a lot, but well put it in a corner of a room some years ago... Then I resurrected the car, went to my friend who also resurrected his Tamiya and we had a little race... So I decided to get going again and I bought the HPI MT2 SS. Boy that's fun :)
I'm looking for a race track now but they're hard to find in Belgium :(

Maybe I'll get into helis when I ever have money for it :)

i just wanted a ntro r/c because i like them so i brought a savage 25.
i was going to get a car but then i had i look at the monster trucks and i wanted to get one and jump it:)

went to the lhs, to look for a neat toy (bro came with). My bro that was there found an onroad TT-01 car. He bought that and all of the required stuff. He got bored, and before selling on eBay, I bought it. I still have that car (I like drifting) but It got kind of annoying that you have to stay right in the street otherwise, you hit the curb and do flips and crap. It was time for me to get an offroad. I bought an electric evader st. Bashed with that for about a year, and sold it. I then wanted to try a gas one, and that is how I now have my RC10GT. Thats my story.

well now lets go back in time here I started way back in 85 with a Tamiya Grasshopper hopped it up with a 540 motor and hornet rear suspension with those lovely yellow oil shocks in the rear. Ran that till the Tamiya Monster Beetle came out eventually put proline road hawgs on it and a modified motor witch then requierd a wheelie bar to keep it on the wheels.
Since I had the need for speed I went and picked up an RC10L after seeing the RCCA reviw of the car doing over 90mph at lake wipperwil (sp) in FL. put in a novak ESC and a Monster Mash motor ment for the clodbuster and my god was that thing fast used to drag full size cars and win most of the time it was freaky eventually put in some 15t mod motor into it and the biggest pinion I could find to bad the batterys only lasted about 4min I still have it and am looking for parts to rebuild it I'm almost done.
I got out of the hobby for a few years due to suddenly having to pay all my own bills. One day I finnally walked by a newstand and saw an issue of RCCA and saw a review of the HPI NitroRS4 and jumped into nitro with no previous experiance had a blast with my RS4 for a few years met a bunch of guys that I still hang out with and my nitro collection has grown to inclued an HPI R40, HPI Savage21 with way too many mods to list and a 1/8 buggy. Last year I finnally got into organized racing and have been having a blast it's been a fun 20 years filled with R/C's

The same thing that gets people hooked on drugs..........Curiosity

i had a frog when i was a kid..
but a year ago my dad started racing radio shack electric cars in his dirveway. then my nephew got a rs4 .so i got one as well then had to find a place to race .. then it led to offroad fury for me and the bug is strong still...

About a little over 2 years ago a friend at work bought a Yokomo, during are lunch break, the next week I went back to the LHS and bought a HPI RS4 3.I have been into it ever since. Now at work 3 out of 4 of us have at least 2 Cars or trucks.

my friend had a thunder quake and i thought it was the coolest thing ever, so about 3 months l8er, i saved up and bought a nitro.
