I have a SH .28 and running a stock pipe. I've been thinking of upgrading to a better pipe and wondering if any one has any thoughts. I like the JP, either 1 or 2.
BTW, would you say the SH .28 is more of a low end or top end motor? Whats temps are you running yours at in 60-80 degree weather?

I also need to buy a back plate so I can remove my pull start. Any suggestions on where to buy?

I have just broke mine in and really like the power and how easy it is to tune. Great motor!

My dad has the jp1 and I also used to run the jp1.

The sh .28 is a low end motor. Its got alot of low end power!

I would say keep the temps around 230 =/- 10 deg.

What are you putting the engine in? Then I can better recommend a pipe.

Its in an 1/8 buggy that I use for bashing. I'm planning on buying a jammin, kyosho or mbx5r and put it in that. Its not a very popular engine at my track, but I have been pretty impressed with it! The break in was super easy and it fires right up. Matter of fact, I'm still on my first glow plug.

Do yall know what type it takes? Also, what settings should I start my low end at? i.e. - Screw it in and then back it out 3 1/2 turns, etc???

If I remember correctly the LSN base setting is 3 turns out. Which ever of the JP's is the high speed one, is the one I would choose. That kind of torquey engine in a buggy could do with some top end help. Others might disagree.

What is yalls opinion about the SH .28? I've heard good and bad. My experience has been all good, although I only have ran about 1/2 gallon through it. But so far so good.

The very early ones where proned to throwing a rod, but that was fixed. I liked mine, but treated it pourly and it gave up on me way to soon.

Its a great engine. Don't run it higher then 250 and you should have a long life. It has super strong low end, Try a jp2 or jp3 and you will be satisfied.

SH engines run best on their own pipes. I'd try dynamite's 053 pipe. its a great midrange exhaust system. The 007 pipe might fit it best though, because it is indeed a torque engine, and thats what the pipe is.

For those who didn't already know... dynamite engines and exhausts = SH.

It sure took dynamite a while to offer a 28 when the SH28 was out years ago...

I bought a used SH28 off a kid for $30 shipped last year. He didn't have a clue as to how much fuel he ran through it, but it was missing all head shims when I got it... I replaced them and I ran about a gallon through it. I sold the truck to a friend and he's run about 3/4 of a gallon through it. Great engine, torquey and holds a decent tune.

getting your own engine to your own specs isn't exactly cheap. Some companies charge as little as 30,000 dollars, and the order is around 500 engines at MINIMUM.

SH has a few .28's out there... where did u get yours from?

you must have the PT2802 engine. The PT2803 is almost impossible to find here in the states.

I don't really have it anymore. A friend of mine "bought" my savage from me. I wasn't using it since I had a revo and aftershock eating up all my bash time... his LST2 was down, so I loaned it to him... then he asked if he could buy it.

I don't know what engine I had, I believe it was the same one that XTM used in the XLB.

Here's a shot of it in my savage:

For $30 I can't complain. It doesn't have much pinch left, but with the plug in, compression is strong and there's a lot of power left in it. It's now in a LST2 since the guys Mach 457 is giving us fits. Leaky SOB...

yeah SH doesn't even make that engine anymore. The PT2802 replaced it. its not yet available to us in the states.
