What makes the Maxx faster than a Savage?

man, those are about to be fighting words around here. i will leave this one alone. but the war is on. :jk:

I just need to know because I am about to purchase this T-Maxx with ful hop ups for just about half the normal price, or go for a Savage at twicw thw price!

Is it faster? I didn't notice.

BTW speed isn't everything in this hobby when it comes to MTs. It is a nice to have, but an MT is more fun bashing than anything else. You want speed get a road racer.

Seriouse guys help decide Maxx or Savage?

True I have a stadium truck aswell that is fast enough. I just like the huge tires and aftermarket support for the Maxx

i can't speak for the tmaxx, but i can speak for the savage. sky might be able to help you on the tmaxx. the savage is awesome. everything i've ever wanted in a rc. it really just depends on what you're looking for. i believe in more power ( kinda like tim taylor) .21 is much more than .15. i know you know the home improvement show. he's my mentor. so what i'm trying to say is for less $, you can put more power into a savage than you can into a tmaxx. just my opinion.

FActory stock, the Savage should be more potent than the Maxx?

If you do not want to end up spending an arm and a leg to make your T-Maxx as strong as a Savage, then get the Savage. For the price of a Savage and a new engine you can stomp a whole lot of Maxx and still come out less expensive in the long haul than a T-Maxx.

I have spent over $2000 on my T-Maxx to make it what it is today, and that is nothing compared to what some people have spent on their T-Maxx. I have spent just under $800 on my Savage (and that includes the price of the Savage unlike the 2k mentioned above on the T-Maxx), and I feel that it is the stronger truck.

My hopped up T-Maxx is a strong performer, but it has a heck of a time keeping up with my Savage.

Straight stock versus stock...the T-Maxx has a stronger stock engine than the Savage, but that is about where the comparison and advantage for the T-Maxx ends. The rest lay either split between the two trucks or on the side of the Savage.

ok, that's just 2 opinions. where are you at now? i'm really interested in the outcome. don't just take mine and sky's suggestions. wait a little while and some other people will reply.

I am between buying a Maxx now or saving and getting a Savage in two months time?

well, you can pay now or you can pay later. unlike sky, i have over 2000 in my savage. that's because i don't know when to stop. but i could have one hell of a tmaxx for that price. as said before, tim taylor rules!!

Ok that's just a quote not a bash or a flame this is just my opinion.

With that said I think you maybe biased and granted I maybe to but you do own a trx.15 pro T-maxx and not the new 2.5. I also want to state up fron the Savage is a great truck and it along with the Tmaxx own the MT class.

Apples and oranges. We have a .21 and a big block .15 very different displacement. Now Traxxas calls the T a 1/10 scale while HPI calls the Savage a 1/8 scale do be mistaken the are very close in size. The savage is maybe an inch longer at best. Same height, width basically.

Here's my take.
The STOCK 2.5 Tmaxx is faster than a STOCK Savge period I've raced them and more than one and were talking straight up drag race. This is not the best way to showcase the stock Savage I admit because its more than smooth on track stock while the Tmaxx needs some denaro to match the handling of the stock Savage. They both have a huge after market support for hop-up and of course the T has a little more options than the Savage but the Savage is a lot newer. The Savages hop-ups grow daily and you can find them readily. I say the Savage's adavantage is you can throw a .21 hyper 8 port in for minimal denaro and have a sick truck right off the gate as where the Tmaxx would need some serious work to hang.

My short opinion for all to lazy to read my long ass post:

Tmaxx 2.5 is faster stock but yes the Savage can be better for cheaper when talking about how much $ it takes to make it faster.:violin:

It says on the body its a 2.5 the head is huge allu, not anodized blue. Ista rear port exhaust. I have compared it to the max on Traxxas site and its the same. So please tell me what I have got?

Buy Both buy the Tmaxx first as you can get it half price with all hop up then get the savage after. Thats what i'm doing only i bought a Storm RTR first then a svage but half way betweeen i am hopefully getting that Rustler from ImBroken all i need it £100 thats converts intro about 165 dollars so i will be able to buy it if i sell my PS1 i just need someone to buy it within a week!!!

Can you see the engine block? It should say 2.5 on it.

if you can't see that is it slide carb or rotary. It is a dead give away slide is a 2.5

It says 2.5 on the block with a slide carb and blue rubber boot

A T-Maxx is faster stock and has endless hop ups. A Savage in my opinion is a lot more durable, but new hop ups are coming out everyday. To me durability is a big issue. A Savage could take a jump land upside down or whatever and it comes back for more. A Maxx land wrong and you're busted for the day. Now this is stock for stock.

If you want a T-Maxx to handle a .21 or bigger you have to invest a lot of money. You would have to upgrade the whole drivetrain and a new chassis.

For a Savage if you want a stronger faster motor spend $200 for a Hyper 7 8-port and you're done.

If I had a choice now, I would have chosen the Savage over the 2.5 Maxx.

My vote goes to the Savage. It is a true 1/8 scale truck, has a .21 engine and is built to be strong. Which is faster is inrevelent when you figure that gearing can make anything fast or powerfull. As far as future upgrades, if you put a Picco 26 in the Savage it will definetly be a MONSTER truck. The T-Maxx is a 1/10 scale and thus will not accept a .21 engine. That's basically the bottom line. Compairing the two is not really fair to the owners of either. For the most part, you cannot compair a 1/10 to a 1/8 on and even basis. Some will say that there are more hop-ups for the T=Maxx. They may be correct but the Savage is a newer truck and catching up fast with the hop-up department. Take a look on eBay with an "HPI Savage" search and you'll come up with quite a few upgrades. My brother has a T-Maxx and there is nothing wrong with it but I like the Savage better. It is bigger, I think stronger, I see no real speed difference, and it also sounds a lot cooler with the .21 engine. The factory radio kinda sucks (AM) but that is my preference to FM and all kinds of transmitter setting compaired to AM. Look over each, go someplace to see each run, think and decide for yourself which you like the best. Trust you instinct, it is usually right.
