I get my license back may 19 and we will be hitting the tracks around here the kids can't wait..... Its alot more fun when you race a few people you dont alwasy race ya know? The slash is a great Sct I was wondering how are the losi 1/10 sct??? The little 1/24's are pretty durable.... Was thinking of trying out the 1/10 series..

Here is an update: I picked up the Losi micro highroller for my sons bday tomorrow(4th). He is going to freak out!!!! I have watched alot of vids (what you can find on youtube for these things anyways) and they go like stink and look pretty durable too. For the price (110 after tax) it should be a good starter for him. He will be able to learn to use the pistol grip radio.

Thanks again to all who have posted on here

I gave him the truck today for his bday, and he loves it!! It wheelies like crazy and is super fast. One thing though...anyone know just how tough these things really are?? Just wondering how much abuse they can take seeing as he is 4 and tends to run it into the wall and jamm it hard under the couch. I am asking this because his last wally mart brand was rammed into the wall and jammed under the couch and eventually broke in half. I am aware of the quality of losi vs walmart crap, but just curious.

Also, is it normal for the battery to get really hot on long charges?
Thanks :D

the longest charge should only be an hour the 1/36 it's only 20-25 min. and yeah mine get warm just keep an eye on them.... and my kids have been pretty rough with them I beleive they were trying to have a demo derby the other night I started to hear the crashes up stairs from the basement.I heard one impact that made me go down stairs and check on things and the 1/24 sct can take a pretty good beating, and as far as I see parts are pretty affordable.. and the 1/36 micro-t I got it has been jumped kicked, and slammed into things I think that highroller should hold up....... just try to make a makeshift track with some sides to get him to learn how to steer,, it works my kids are getting alot better with giving them obsticles to drive around...

The Losi 1/36 trucks are real sturdy. I ran my insanely modified and powered one into a curb at high speed trying to avoid a car in the parking lot and only broke a tie rod and scuffed the body.

Yours is modified now, but was it real strudy in stock form, or did you start heavy mods because it wasn't very sturdy in stock form?

I still had most of the stock parts on it. The only mods to the front end was the oil shocks, threaded axles and an RPM front bumper. The only ones I'd recommend in your case is the RPM front bumper and the threaded axles.

In your experience with this, was it pretty easy to install the threaded axles and bumper...the screws on this thing are TINY!!!

It takes either 4 or 6 screws for the bumper and replaces the stock piece. The screw type axles also replace the stockers and are also fairly easy to install.

Cool, thanks. Those will come later if and when he breaks something. For now stock seems to be pretty good quality material.

How have you found yours to be good in grass and sand etc. or is it a little sluggish outdoors when it is running on anything other than ashphalt?

Have you got a link to the website where you found your RPM bumpers and threaded axles? I tried to find by searching google, but could not find anything other than the standard hopups from Losi.

Thanks:D

if you wanna go small, tamiya makes he Tam Tech Gear Frog,Hornet, and Fox. they are 1/16th scale and pretty tough. my dad ordered my ma, 13 year old and 10 year old sisters their own and theyre pretty good. plenty of optional parts and for a four year old its slow enough to learn on and then you can get the upgraded motor to go a lil faster. great lil cars though. i currently have my mas and i aint broke it yet after 2 years

Here are the threaded axles, both front and rear:

I've had very good service and have dealt with this company for quite a while.

Thanks for that. These things are pretty tough though...not sure when we will have to replace parts. Those upgrades are super cheap arent they!!! Gotta love that.
