I'm fixing up a couple of old Traxxas 2wd rigs for a coworker. They've got Phillips hardware, yellow plastics, they're tired but all intact. Right now I'm having an electrical problem with the one on my bench.

I'm running an xl5 esc with an Amazon 550 brushed motor, tq tx/rx, and what I'm guessing is the stock servo. It powers up and drives, but intermittently it will lose response to input. No steering or throttle for anywhere from a brief pause up to thirty seconds or so. Like a thermal shutdown but much more frequent and very short. Would this be a sign of a tired esc? I should probably just check the radio plug first lol
