you can still mask and spray it with rattle cans. they sell the paint for the bodys in spray cans as well as paint for the air brushes.

I just finished my body and it was done with masking tape and lexan spray paint, And I guess if you had the patients you could use the lexan paint that comes in the little jars and some paint brushes....

Using rattle cans will work fine. there are even some tutorials or show some advanced techniques to using the cans. I'll see if I can find it. There are many tricks they can use to make them look cool. just take some time to practice and there are a lot of neat things you can do. If you're serious about painting you should look into trying to get an airbrush set up at some point but rattle cans will work fine for now.
