I have a collari .32 on my rc10gt... Ill let ya know how it works...

I'm would be guessing by you saying you will let me know how it is that you just got this engine? (pure guess) anyhow how does the sleves ports look? are they nice and true and have well finshed edges or does it look like it could use some finishing touches? Thanks

Both the .32 and the Nova .28 are quality engines, but I think the modded Nova would beat out the .32. Novas are known to be some of the most powerful engines around and when you get a modded it one I hear its just insane. You could also get a non modded on I think for just a bit over 200. The regular and the Collari .32 I bet would be pretty similar but I have never run either so I don't know for sure.

if you want all out power and RPM I'd have to say you are looking at the wrong type of mill....check out the modded .21 engines....they spin much higher RPMs than any monster block engine can...the top/rex/rossi 421b hottinger mod is a beast...talk to bruce at Ruchrc.com ..... he can get em for really good prices....they will flat out crush any other mill on the track.......

Plaid,

I am in the process of selecting an engine for my savage racer and was going to try out a modded nova rex528xrp...would a modded nova .21 rev higher or rev faster or both if both? Assuming both engines were modded by the same company.

from my understanding you can't get a .26 or larger mill that revs higher than a Race .21.....you will not have the same low end the larger mill has but how much grunt do you need for a 10lb truck???.....I saw a friend at the track drop a .21 hottinger modded P5 in a LSP and It was flat out baaaaadd ass......got way mre punch than the .27 he ran in it.....I forgot which engine that was.....but still the P5 had it all over that other one......the claims of RPMs by the larger mills are usually false...like the Wasp/Fantom/Orion .27...they claimed ontheir site some 42,000 RPMs....it does turn some serious RPM but Fantom admitted they can't do that to me on the phone.....he said Wasp trumped the numbers so he did too.....then went into some long ass explanation as to why they can't rev that high compared to the .21s.......I look at it this way...the .21 has been a standard size for so long you'd think (hope) the're at a stage where they are just getting better ( fuel consumption, performance , Durability).....if you want low end get a big mill but if you want more top get a .21....if you want both get a seriously modded .21....but they are real finicky mills, at least the 421b mod is......those are the guys w/ a mic and calculator shimming their heads for a race.....do I want to go through all that? Not really, but if you want performance you need ot do some work to get it.....

55 MPH sounds very optimistic for a Savage with 19/47 gearing.

Even if your motor and gearing were capable of 55 MPH the Savage suspension would never be able to handle speeds even close to that while off-road.

So what are you trying to say then? I'm lying? well think what you want I'm not here to arguee with you over somehting that you dont know about (meaning my truck and how its set up not saying you dont know what your talking about) But the truck is not really set up for off road it has tall tires tall gears and tall speed! Besides the suspension will hold up no problem modified or not off road, It all depends on what kind of off road your talking. no 2 places are the same for instants a baseball field is off road and stock suspension will have no problem going 50 or more on that off road surface, but now if your talking about your back yard that is grass and dirtmounds ect.. then yeah hitting the dirt mound at 50 will be a problem with a stock suspension, anyhow know your facts before you call me a lier next time.

I just said that 55 MPH sounds very optimistic. I did not intend to call you a liar. I sometimes run 19/47 gears on my Savage with a Picco 26 and I am nowhere near 55 MPH. 55 MPH is absolutely ballistic for a MT and the stock suspension could never handle speeds like that when running off road. That is my opinion as a person who runs in organized off-road races and bashes in the typical off-road areas.

35 MPH while off-road is flying, I can’t even imagine 55 MPH while off-road. One bump and your truck will become an airplane.

I wonder what type of loads these engines are put on to reach the max RPM figures. I would think the max rpm would be much lower when the load is moving a 10-12lb truck.

I forget if it was Parris or hottinger said they typically see 20% less than what the manufacturer's claim on RPM.....the HP numbers can be off because they avg like 50 dyno runs w/ 10 different mills to get their numbers.....the HP numbers are always way of from when I read about dyno tests by 3rd parties (i.e. magazine shootouts)....the RPM numbers are all off anyway....I find Rossi to be the closest to what they publish and OS to always be under rating themselves bigtime in HP but closer to reality in RPM....this opinion is based on limited data but its from serious designers and what they've said in the past....

I think some would be very little load. Bit like the HP ratings, they are not even worth taking note of at times.

Whats the calculated RPM for 55MPH?

need wheel diameter and secondary drive ratios first........I bet Dahellion or Niggle has the calcs to figure all that stuff out.....

according to kwongs file calculations, with 47/19 spur/CB, and 6.4 inch big joes you need to hit 36300 rpms to reach 55mph.

that sounds like it would be screaming.....even the sirio.....do-able but that's gotta be stressing internals to the limit......

Pushing a 12 pound truck spinning 36,300 RPM is pretty crazy. I'm sure the engine could hit that before blowing up if it wasn't pushing the truck lol, but I doubt that engine will last too long at that stress.

well you gotta figure these engines are dynoed with no load on them at all and thats where they get there hi rpm and BHP ratings.

they do put loads on them, they use propellors from what I've seen or a larger/heavier rotating mass flywheel....the sirio claims 39,000 so the 36,500 is definately do-able, but llike I and AC said I wouldn't want to run it like that often.....must sound like it's in pain....LOL....that sirio is a monster for sure...you run the 11 port one?? that is a top end screaming raped ape, eating the monkey that F'd the football....whew mouthful....

did you accound for tire balooning?? that alone can add at least a few inches to the tires
