RC Driving Style
I forgot on how it goes is it 5 in front 7 in middle and 1 in back? running a mp777 :smoke:

really depends on the track and your driving style but I think putting 1000 in the back is gonna make it pretty free on entry, but that's just an assumption cuz I havn't been to a track yet

I've been running 5-5-5 lately and like it. its good for tracks with lower traction. 5-7-3 or 5-7-1 would be better for a higher bite track.

Thats a good idea..I'm gonna try that the next time i change out the oil in my storm. I'm running 5-5 (minus the center diff) in my savage and it rocks.

It al depends on track. I've used 5-7-3, 5-5-5 & 5-10-5. So the best way is to experiment with different settings. Try Mugen super silicone oils, they're pretty good.

Track with high traction= 5-7-3
Track with medium traction=4-6-2
Track with low traction=5-7-1

The thicker the rear diff is, the more is will act like a posi, which is no good for a track with low traction or alot of loose turns.. I've found that the 4-6-2 is a pretty good all around set-up, but that's just IMO.

man those setups are so close......I go to the extreme end of diff weight for traction changes......if it's high traction 8-10-3 worked real well but if you have tread on the edge of your tire you can traction roll easy......5-7-1(,2 or 3) for most conditions and real sloppy soft for low traction, like 3-3-1...the last setup is still in my "testing" state as I haven't decided I like it enough to leave diffs setup in my pit box like that.....that's in there now but may change next time I can race.....I miss racing.....2 months almost now...

me and my son both race mbx5's, his is stock except for the steering ankerman and has 4-7-1, mine is a prospec with 5-7-2. i was having problems with mine just sticking and comeing in and out of corners. so i got to watching his and it was dialed, so i tried the 4-7-1 and it worked great. that is what we mainly run now, but it does suite our driving styles also.

Diff oils...

It's a sensitive subject. If I ever want to fire off and endless debate at my local track, I bring up the question of diff oil setups for our track, which is a combination of clay, astroturf and dirt with a concrete main straight!
The common setup advice tends to be 5-7-1 or somewhere very close to that. As Plaidfish said, the variations in setups dicussed here (and at my local track) are so close!
Fine tuning is the hardest part, but I think the 5-7-1 is an excellent reference point for most tracks.

tell ya what you do. go to the track and do some testing.. see what YOU like best :) usually you have the middle diff with most oil and rear diff with less but there are many ways people have their oils
