My son is upgrading his shocks on his arrma typhon 223s...he wanted me to ask input on thicker oil in front ot back as he is getting mixed reviews online...he does more off road dirt jumps.

Depends on what handling characteristics he's looking to change. Has he ran the new shocks yet? Or is he just looking for somewhere to start?

Varies according to temperature. There’s not a chart you can just “pick the perfect combo” from that covers this as it’s dependent on many different variables/conditions. Best thing he can do is start learning IF he wants to change it.

For an RTR, and general bashing-I’d start with what it comes with, and make SMALL changes (if even at all) to viscosity from there based on what it’s doing. He will also need to learn the proper bleeding procedure, or the whole operation will be a moot venture.

Regardless, he’s gonna need to learn WHY he’s changing it, what it’s doing to require said change, and what he WANTS it to be doing after..

Just asking a buncha goons on the forum will likely do more harm than good/leaving it bone stock… Just my .02.

If he’s ready to soak up some knowledge; have him start HERE:

Perfect reply my guy! 😂

While watching the inflight movie, I went searching and found this:

Thank you, I appreciate the information. I always take suggestions with a grain of sand... was mainly asking when referencing his bashing style and jumps, because what he has factory, isn't working for him. He bottoms out a lot, which is why we are trying the thicker oil...we dont really care about Speed at this point, just not destroying his new chassis. And was curious about others experience. We will experiment and see what works.

Buggies and truggies are DESIGNED to bottom out the chassis. They NEED to do this in order to not destroy parts. Chassis’ are “consumable” items. 😉

If it is bottoming out, then the chassis is actually saving many other parts.

I’m also learning a lot as I’m a newbie as well, keep asking questions... 😎👍🏼
