Hey guys I want to instal a new mill in my Ofna PBS and am thinking of the RB WS7-2 offroad engine but am wondering if the stock clutch and springs will hold up or if I need to upgrade, and if so what would be recomended. If you have a link please post. Thanks guys can't wait to go faster. Any other suggestions would be great to. Thanks again.:jet: :jet:

You should go with a 4 shoe clutch. There are only a few companies out there that make them. I personally use the UE. 34mm to be used with Monster Trucks. They also make one that is 38mm, for buggies. This way you can bump start it. The package is like $30 or so, and comes with flywheel, collet, springs, and clutch shoes (carbon). I chose the aluminum ones. I usually brake the carbon ones trying to get them on the flywheel. What a hookup these things have. Heres a link:

Good luck!!

and any other suggestions...putting it in a hyp7 pcr...

Bump....................Bump....................Bump

Anyone else with some input ......please.......

If you wanted a 3 shoe clutch, you could go with Mugen. Just remember when ordering, that you get the larger flywheel. Again that way you can bump start it. My buddy used this Mugen 3 shoe before UE made the 4 shoe. I really suggest for maximum hookup, you use the four shoe. There are very few companies that make them out there. Check on the Ofna website, I think they make a 4 shoe clutch system. You could use the fioroni clutch system, it only has one shoe. But , from what I've been told they work as effeciently as the 4 shoe.

would I need to change the cluth bell also if I used the 4 clutch set up?

No, You would not need to change the clutch bell. Well as long as it is a 1/8 style clutch bell. Which, if it is the original Ofna PBS one, you are good to go. I tell you the 4 shoe clutch is the way to go. I gave you a link to it in a previous post, take a look!

An 1/8 clutch bell is an 1/8 clutch bell. It doesn't matter how many shoes. I just ordered the Fioroni Turbo sliding set up. This looks to be a great choice in the clutch department. Lots of contact to the bell housing. It may cost a little more, but seems to be a great set up.

Thanks woody and roadrunner, just ordered clutch and ws7 11 mill should be hear mid week then nice easy breakin. Thanks again guys for the help. May the buggy gods look down on you and smile.

During the winter bash Nitroaddict replaced his clutch setup with the one you mentioned. It was like a night and day difference. He was also running an RB engine.

Personally I just ordered the Fioroni Turbo sliding for my buggy. Every says this clutch is the bomb. We shall see. It should be here by mid week.

I like the Mugen clutch, but over here in Belgium I am using a Mantua 3 shoe clutch and it works pretty good.

Also if you want to be daring I would go with a Fioroni. I have heard nothing but good from them.

Well I went with the 4 shoe clutch from Unlimited Engineering (with carbon shoes), it lasted thru breakin and then self destructed. So I think I will try the Mugen 1.1mm springs with 3shoe White Mugen Clutch shoes. Can I put these on my stock 38mm flywheel from my Hyper7 (it was a three shoe)?

Rhyton, the above should work great. I would have suggested you skip the 4-shoe and go for a regular 3-shoe setup in the first place but I got in here a bit late. A 4-shoe setup is unneccessary imo.

A well setup 3-shoe will grab plenty hard enough, and there is always mugen 1.2 springs if you want more grab than 1.1, and other options like drilling the shoes etc. If you are racing, too much grab and you'll have serious wheelspin issues anyway.

The white shoes and springs will fit fine on your stock hyper7 flywheel, no worries.

Good luck :)

rython.. i run the 1.1 springs.. with regular composite shoes.. and a 13 or 14t clutchbell depending on the track.. tight track.. 13.. high speed track.. 14.. i dont like aluminum shoes.. too much maintenence.. and the car would never be planted..
