I miss my 66 vette, spent 21/2 years on that car doing a ground up resto. It was a blast to drive in the summer.

Agree! I'd love a TT Supra! Wouldn't think twice about trading both my Stangs for one, but who would?

My favorite was my 1977 Trans Am. The smokey and the bandit car. Black with a gold bird, and T tops.

That was a very good looking car, but in stock form that car ran like a mid to high 16 second quarter mile and topped out at about 120 MPH. The Bandit "T/A 6.6" Olds 403 only generated 200 HP and 325 ft-lbs of torque. The car was also very heavy at over 3800 lbs. In today's day and age that car would get beat up by anything with a V6 (like a new Nissan Maxima).

I had a '78 Z28 4-speed with a 3:73 rear and almost no options (light car). Back then it was pretty fast for its time. Today it would be considered a turd. I also had an 80 Z28 auto, 84 Z28 HO 5-speed, a highly modified 85 TPI Auto IROC-Z, and an 85 TPI 4+3 Corvette. I've got what I consider to be better cars now so I don't really miss any of them. If I was forced to choose one I would probably pick the '78 Z28 because they are very rare now. The car had no emissions devices on it and it was very clean under the hood.

i wish i could remember. my mom had a gold 79 T/A with the golden eagle package, dad was a pontiac dealer at the time. unfortunitly my arrival in this world was soon accompanied by the T/A's departure from mom's half of the garage.

I miss my 72 skylark GS w/HO 350 and posi rear. Car needed a paint job but would run like a son of a gun. Fast fast fast..used to beat 5.0 Stangs I will get another one some yr.

1 is funny, 1 is sad...

Funny: My parents had a 198* (80 something) Pontiac Catilina Safari wagon with a big block in it and a 4-barrel carb. That thing would smoke all sorts of little f'rs in their 5.0's. My dad had installed dual exhausts on it that came out in front of each rear tire... that thing flew and sounded mean. It was a smaller wagon with nice al rims and a tow package (low gearing and hitch). My mom busted the drive shaft on it "accidently" burning out going from a gravel road to pavement. I'm sure it didn't have anything to do with me doing donuts in it with 9 of my friends in it the weekend before in the school parking lot... Nothing like a party rig that would cruise at 110mph with a smile on it's face!

Sad: 1984 or 1986 Mercury Capri. My dad and I worked on it for about a year. Basically re-did everything (even the paint) until it looked like new. We got it from my brother after he wiped out the passenger door whipping donuts in a parking lot. I was 16 going on 17... it had a 351 clevelend jammed in it and would smoke the tires in 3rd. To this day, it's about the only thing I've been affraid in. The trans was weird, it was 3spd w/4th as overdrive. When "racing", I'd run it to about 110 before dropping it in 4th, then I'd just walk away from whomever I was racing. Hell of a car... then I went to college, dad said it was too much for me to have at college. He let my nephew "borrow" it and he got t-boned the second week he was "borrowing" it... man, I'm still pissed.

Looked like this, but much nicer. Mine had a ram air hood scoop and 16" wheels w/ low profile tires. Also had a better ground effects/spoiler package:
