Whats the largest size engine I can safely and practically mount into a Jato? Somthing that wont destroy the tranny and can fit in the Jato. I would like to mount a .21 to a .26.

I worked on one for a guy who stuck a novarossi plus .21 on his but also replaced all tranny gears with steel ones and i installed steel cvds on rear for him to handle the power. It snapped the stock axles quick!

i put an O.S. 21tm in my jato, i did get more power. but more power isnt the only way to brake a jato. the way you drive will do it allso. just if you come off the ground DONT have power on when you come down. i jumped a small crack under power, striped the the tranny. course i was using foam tires, on pavement. just be carefull.

Wow, the Jato tranny is that fragile that it can't even handle a .21 from a .20? I've heard and seen of a case locally when a guy has successfully mounted a .28 and stripped their gears, but not a .21! A majority of my driving is off road in the jato, not Revo or savage worthy off road but soft dirt and grass off road. Just looking for more power than speed. So the OS .21 is the biggest and most practical? are those steel tranny gears somthing that RPM or Integy would make?

I see two available on tower, Revo and Maxx manifold, which one? or does it matter since I wont be using the manifold any way.

I'm speaking of a novarossi plus 7 port .21 thats been modded also in the jato that snapped the axles. And yes a modded nova .21 can tear a jato stock tranny gears apart! These guys around here drag race mostly and they all have jatos with modded mills and long wheelie bars on em hitting speeds of around 100+ within 200 feet. Its crazy how fast they are getting these things to run in that short distance.

Its unbelievable how much a .01 change in size can tear up the transmission. I'm sure youd have to loosen the slipper clutch a good bit.

"Wow, the Jato tranny is that fragile" not realy most of the trouble was the way i set up my jato. i was not useing stock tires, that was the biggest thing caused my trouble, i was useing foam tires. AND i was usng a very hot load of fuel, about 50% nitro. and i hit a large crack in the pavement. avoid those things and youll be fine. just use stock tires or tires like the stock ones. TO: Zdragon71 what nitro load do those drag guys use.

I don't use stock tires, I personally hate the anacondas for bashing. Theyre decent onroad tires, but absolutely atrocious when you go off road. You can even accelerate with any speed at all without spinning out and losing control. I normally try to find a good durable knobby tire that holds its own on the pavement and good off road traction. Don't get me wrong I'll still use the anacondas if I know I'm going on road only. Right now I'm using some badlands, I've found theyre pretty durable and wont go bald after one tank on road. And I normally run a mixture of 1 part 35 percent trinity for every 4 parts of Byron 20 percent for an odd 22-23 percent or so blend I believe, don't know why, thats just the way I've always done it for about 3 or 4 years now on most of my rigs. So I'm sure Ill be fine as long as I loosen the slipper clutch a tad.
