Need help with batteries for M18 & Mini-T

I'm new to racing the electrics. Normally I use the packs. I dunno what the heck is the difference on matched or unmatched cells or what kind to get for racing either car. I need your help guys!

Thanx in advance,

Ed

matched cells have the same or damn close specs as far as charge compacity and discharge rate as well as voltage. You are only as good as your weakest link type of thing. Budget battery packs perform different from one pack to the next, where matched cells you know what you are getting.

I dunno what to get. I've seen some racers with matched set of 5 cell batteries. I just not sure if that is the way to go or if there is a longer lasting batteries to use.

mAh is going to give you a longer runtime or better said, longer delivery of the peak voltage before drop off.

So higher mAh rated cells will get you longer runs at high speed.

Voltage will be based on the # of cells combined, be certain to stay within your motor limits.

Matched are PRECISELY matched for same voltage delivery per cell, as well as mAh and # of seconds it can deliver that voltage. If all cells are the same, then the combined voltage will be able to be equally deliverred for a longer period of time. They also discharge better since they are all the same and if your discharger has a voltage cutoff of .9v per cell, you are winning. You can actually do more damage by overdischarging than anything else.

Sanyo makes the best cells IMO.

I just dont know who sells loose AA matched and zapped cells.

here is one I found:

Depending on the rules at your track you can go a few different ways. For my Mini-T, I made a 6 cell pack using GP AA 1.2v 2000mah cells which yields 7.2v. With the stock motor I get about 45 min of run time. I have yet to drop a modified motor in so I can't help you there, but I am sure you will have plenty of run time.

I beleive the general rule for 1/18 touring cars is 5 cell pack with a modified motor, or a 6 cell pack with a stock motor. I chose to go with the 6 cell setup using GP 1.2v 800mah AAA cells delivering 7.2v in a light package. This pack will fit the M18 with no problem. In My Micro RS4 with a stock motor I can get about 10 min of run time with minimal drop off while keeping up, and beating mod motors. However if your track has no rules go with this pack and a Peak coreless motor. Gear the hell out of it and hold on tight.

I order my cells from Thomas Distributing. lenmar 2300mah AA cells are also available, which ran nice but smoked 2 cells, the other 4 now reside in my Savage as a receiver pack.

I am using a 7.4V li-poly on my mini t with stock motor. Do you guys think that the stock motor can handle these kind of voltage??
