I done it!!!! I went with my gut feeling and bout the original baja 5b today.....bought used because new was out of my price range..... ended up with the 23cc(for now).....wanted to go bigger but i think with the deal i got in this one it will suit me until i can get a larger power plant.......i got the buggy for 400 with some extra parts and bodies etc...... needs a new pull cord assembly as the one on it is about wore out.......has rpm a arms a chrome fatty pipe, looks like it was taken good care of very clean and looks new, tires have a little wear on the back but not really worried about those.......has a 5000 mah battery for the electronics and all the factory parts that were taken off........i pick it up tomorrow morning....so there will be pics posted tomorrow. Hang with me guys I'm sure ill have more questions and all the help would be appreciated. :celb2:

Thanks HPI....i think i will sell off most of them.......i'm thinking the non tuning of a gasser will spoil me silly.....i will keep the ones i am most fond of but i will for sure be thinning the heard.....i'm not sure what a larger engine will cost me but i think ill get the good out of the 23cc before i do anything.

The 23cc stock engine is no slouch. I shred tires and leave rooster tales of dirt with mine running a stock can for exhaust. Like you, I'm going to wait for this engine to give up the ghost before going totally gonzo.

Yep, the non tuning will ruin you for sure. I used to start mine and just walk around watching my nitro buddies curse and sweat on that first cold start while the Baja idled happily forever. I loved mine, but sold it due to nobody to run with locally anymore, and you need a LOT of room to open up a Baja. A soccer field goes by fast.

Well your not too far from me buy you another one and we will find a place to run them.....LOL....i have a football field close to my house....and i am hoping if all goes well i will have a track built by spring if the lease works out.

I was looking t maybe getting the hydraulic brake upgrade for it.

i read somewhere there was some mods that had to be done for the hyd brake set....I'm not sure though.............i would love to have 2 speed ...that will most likely come with the new power plant when i have to change it.

well got the baja home today.....and boy......did i get screwed......this guy seemed very honest and trust worthy but i was WRONG.......the engine is shot.......and it had lived a rough life.....i guess ill start at the beginning a rebuild the whole car.......anyone wanna buy some nitro's.........LOL I think i will be need some building instructions since i am tearing the whole thing apart....i can remember most of the parts but I'm sure ill have problems with some of the smaller ones.

Well , the way i look at it.....he took me for the money but karma will come back to him.....it was obvious he knew the car was in rough shape......but by the time i am done with it, i will know the car inside and out....and i will know what i have.......i plan on starting with the rear dif and work my way up.......i need some good ideas on how to re surface the chassis that will be my second task......lol. Kinda Bummed but everything will be good by warm weather and i will have a "new" baja......lol

Oh man, that sucks, sorry to hear that. I take it you didn't see it in person first? I drove three hours each way to do just that, and made the guy demo it at a rest area. But, as you said, karma will get him in the end for sure. What comes around.......

Yup I almost bought one from a Japanese guy but he told me everything that was wrong with it and he HAD abused the crap out of it. He told me how much it would cost to get fixed and if I was not in for it he understood. He suggested I get the SS kit (wich I did) and he even gave me a lot of pointers to put it together. But that is how most of them are...very honest. Sorry to hear you got hosed.

Don't forget about FastEddy's Baja videos on Youtube. They were a HUGE help with the kit.

Yeah , I'm over it now....got get my head into getting it rebuilt.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune and I guess you could chalk this one up as a hard lesson learned. I guess the only silver lining to this black cloud of BS is that HPI has a great exhange program if you're willing to go that rout with the 23 you have now. Good luck with the rebuild and keep us posted on how things go.

will post pics of progress....i took some of the tear down....... will take more as i start building it back....I'm gonna start with all new chassis, and then start on the rear part of the car and work my way forward.
