Can’t believe or understand Losi discontinued all there 5 scale rc’s , makes no scence at all , is that where the hobby is headed ,,,, grom everything , maybe there investing in the eyewear industry ? Getting to the point where we are left with this $3000 Mcd company or the primal rigs where they just aren’t manageable unless you have three guys go with you to load and unload the things , the 5b , 5t , and dbxl are great platforms but now I gotta start becoming a better yoogler on the googler just to find parts it seems , they are around still but give it a year and it could get scary just don’t understand it , I looked into losi’s future and its grom everything, there cheap and cute but that’s not for everyone but it seems that’s how Arrma , Traxxas , Losi are headed. , those things are for children , they bounce and roll around all the time even though I’ve changed suspension completely there limits are stupid after running them for ten minutes , RRRRRRRRAATTS !!!!

It's because very few people in the hobby get into large scale stuff if I had to guess. The cost of the initial investment upfront, the cost of replacement parts, storage space for large scale rigs, etc.

As to the grom comment, last I checked Losi, Traxxas, Aarma and others are still making 1/8 rigs and bigger in the case of Traxxas and Aarma.

HobbyTown still has many 1/5 scale kits and cars for sale

In my case, it's because I have lost most of the places I can run larger rigs. All of our open space is either being developed, or is fenced off because of illegal dumping. :(

much like every other industry the RC industry operates on trends. monster trucks were popular in the 80's. then buggies and stadium trucks seemed to take over. late 90's and early 2000's it was touring cars. early 2000's it was nitro monster trucks. small scale stuff made a blip on the radar. then short course got its 15 minutes of fame. then crawlers/trail trucks. then vintage stuff. now back to the small stuff. if you don't like what's popular just wait 2 years.
the good news is nothing ever seems to go away. the bad news is you'll spend a lot of money on stuff that'll get increasingly difficult to operate.

That's a great point that I forgot. Where I ran 1/10 and 1/8 stuff, my 1/5 that I had would cover that ground in a HURRY. Just because it's so much larger and heavier and didn't get tossed around like smaller scale rigs.

Losi is coming out with a new 1/5, they still want to own that market. Recently someone released some inside information.
You stop that right now! My bank account is still recovering...

That and a rovan is a fraction of the price.

For awhile i wanted a Losi 5ive-T but since they're discontinued and i'd feel better off if instead i would have an X-Maxx Ultimate and my Outcast 8s EXB which come electric for starters. Just my opinion although i wouldn't mind having a 5ive-T 3.0 if they came out with one.

They still make the tmaxx. 🫡

I know they still do although i'm starting to think i might be better off with electric vehicles since there's less maintenance involved. There's also many more up to date durable cars out there that don't need everything to be RPM just to be durable. No offense it's just it might be better for me to stay electric and i have to try to keep the cars i buy instead of selling them if i don't like them. I have a tendency to sell things and lose money or regret selling them.

I can run and repair my 1/5 and 1/4 scales cheaper than my Arrma's (within reason) that's why I gave up on Arrma.
I would never have bought a legit 5T as Losi are just totally overpriced, I run a 30°North 5T clone and tbh it's AWESOME, and trust me 12s is stupidly fun, I don't ever want a slow sluggish 1/5 gas car, electric all the way for me.. 😎

I agree the RC world is going a bit Grom'ish with everything and it's getting boring, I have some of the smaller cars, but personally I use them as a 2nd car in-between runs or waiting for bigger stuff to cool down or break.. 😂

The gas 1/5 is a completely different world. The gas can be sluggish off the line but those hopped up zenoah G320’s are crazy snappy. They can rival the electric set ups; gas is just a different experience just like nitro is a completely different experience. My 30DNT is a monster, it’s a ridiculously well built 5T clone.

Honestly, I never saw myself having 1/5 scale RCs. Then I got an itch. An itch so bad that I want them all. It’s a shame Losi discontinued the 5T, I’m hoping they release a 3.0… I’m happy with my 30DNT and my DBXL-E but I’m always hunting 1/5 scales on marketplace. Hopefully we get a new one soon.

Arrma apparently mentioned a 1/5 Typhon buggy late last year, but it's a no show up till now..
Arrma/HH could easily build the above by just using the Losi 5B platform and modernise it, but in all honesty I think HH is too lazy when they can keep churning out Groms etc... :(
