Other than a few small suspension parts I've been clear of any engine/mechanical issues. I've had the grom less than a few days and already knocked something internal loose. Power works, servo works...motor just whine's when acceleration is given, zero-wheel spin.

Thoughts before a noob starts taking it apart?

you could have shredded the pinion. take a look and see if when you hit the power the car tries to move at all or rotate each tire while holding the other and if it spins easier than usual, you might have stripped the internal plastic gears of the diffs. your pinion also could have come loose.

Pinion gear slipped off the shaft, or a chewed/stripped pinion or spur gear which those are most likely the issue.
Yeah, I'm thinking the pinion came loose. The pinion and spur in the groms are metal.

Diffs are stripped.
I thought that too, but his pinion seems loose because he said it has a small whine under power without any car movement. I stripped 4 stock diffs in my Mojave Grom. I currently have 2 being warrentied

I'll have to report back tomorrow, no time this eve to take a look. I also jacked up my Teton after dinner...it runs, just a little clicking in the front in, jarred something loose I'm sure...when it rains, it pours...

Folow the spin. If the motor spins but not a driveshaft check thd tranny. If ot all spins but not the wheel, start at the wheel.

teton drives, all 4 wheels work, there is a clicking sound as they turn...hard to tell if the sound is coming from front/rear or both

I figured out the noise on the Teton, there was a pebble or something that found it's way into one of the spur gear teeth.

But, the awesome part is I put a batter in and tested it before I put it all back together, and noise was gone, all 4 wheels spun...get it all put back together, front wheels no longer spinning...I guess the shaft disengaged from the front...so gotta take it all back apart to figure that out

Yup, shaft became disengaged...now my front-end is in pieces and four additional little pinions appeared as if by magic lol

I had to take a step back and will need to look at a YouTube and/or manual to get it back together. It's fun though, just can't allow myself to get to the point of raging frustration lol

Yeah...gonna need a little help from you peeps...

Current status of my Teton...

I can't seem to figure out or find a diagram for what the hell these (4) smaller pinions are for and where they go...
