Plaid I take it you ride burton? I've had a few in the past...burton, ride, rossignol, and forum. I liked them all but my bro's Option board seems to ride the best. IMO

No doubt... the Vicatin is the stuff! Other than that, it is nice to get waited on hand and foot, although I think I would rather be able to walk at this point. It was nice the first week, but now sitting around all day with you leg up kinda stinks. Not much I can do about it now however. Finace' is great though. I don't know what I would do without her... besides it is much better for her to help me in the shower than it would be for me to go home to mom! Ewwwww... I think I would hire a nurse before I would go to mom for that! :)

DUDE that sucks,
Glad your still with us though could have been worse. Thats cool about your girl renting you games, my wife did the same for me after I had surgery on my back :). Be very very carefull with the pain meds they are extremely addictive and can do even more damage then good. Trust me Bro I know, if you take them long enough they began not to work as good. Next thing you know your taking them more often and it just snow balls from there. I ended up putting my self in a rehab center to get off them and it was pure hell. I seiously thought I was going to die from the withdraws!! They messed up my stomach and now have to be carefull with what I eat. It also caused problems with my wife and I and we are now seperated, but we are working things out. They changed who I was and had effect on my entire life. Just do me a HUGE favor and be very very carefull with them and only take them when you REALLY need them. Anyway I'm done preaching lmao, I hope you have a speedy recovery and will be out bashing you rc,s and not your body soon lol good luck man

I have to have something to do.... skiing isn't the only thing the Doc said I am not supposed to do... if you know what I mean? For 12 weeks I have to put up with this!

Hey Jesse... thanks for the words of advice about the meds. I got a huge speach from the Doc about the vicadin. In fact he only gave me a few of them to get me through the swelling and the initial pain. No refills after that. I had to sign a piece of paper saying that I understood what was being said to me before they released the meds. I watched a friend of mine come off of morphine and oxicontin. Man that was not pretty, he made it through just as you did luckily. I hope you are doing well Jesse and I hope everything continues to go well with you. I hope to be out bashing in a few weeks. As long as I can crutch it ok, I will bash as much as I can. Take care my friend, and again thank you for the well wishes and the words of advice. Truer words have never been spoken.

Tom, Tom, Tom, Tom...nothing says YOU have to do something that is against the doctor's orders! There are two of you in the house, right?

I'm glad to hear your doctor is monitoring what your taking. All I had to do was call in tell them I was low and they would have me come in and get the perscription at the front desk. They would never even ask questions, just ok come pick it up. After I had gotten of the meds I went in for a check up and the first thing they asked was if I had enough meds. WTF!!! then I told him no I quit taking them and had to go to rehab because of them. I couldnt believe his response. Yeah that happens!!!! I was like wtf this is messed up.
I was taking percocett, oxicontin, morhine and also Vicoden it a 2 yr period. And a couple other things I can't pronounce lol. Anyway get well soon and just relax and let your girl take care of you :)

Dude that sucks... I am just glad you were able to kick the meds.... some folks are not as lucky. That doctor needs to have his head examined. If he keeps prescribing those kinds of meds unmonitored to his other patients, one day he is going to kill someone! After watching my buddy go through that, I figured that I should just deal with the pain. At this point it is just mild to moderate depending on how much I am up and about.

I broke my leg in august of last year(big and little bone, big one in 2 spots and little in one) 3 breaks total it was a bitch. the meds were ok i still got some oxycotton, and they had me taking perkaset too and others that i can't remember their names. They had to put a rod in and 2 skrews, they took the 2 skrews out on the 19th of december their in the droor next to me they are like 1-1/2 to 2 inches long. I hated it so much cuz i do lots of sports and love running and i couldnt do notin at all so it sucked. i broke it playin football got cut blocked. i was playin on my 4wheeler in the fromt yard when i still had the boot on and i was doin weelies (not the brightest thing) and about flipped it that would have sucked, lol. But hey yours doesn't sound that bad and before you know it youll be back to normal. have fun watchin lots of football and playing PS2!

Hey Fisherman, you are right, I should be back on my feet in a couple of months. It is just the fact that I have to sit that long. At least it is during the winter, and not during racing season. I don't know what I would do if I could get out to race RC's.

I did get some rather bad news at work today. They have asked me to stay at home for the next 10 weeks until I am cleared to go back to full duty capcity. Totally took me off guard! :OMG: I was not at all expecting this to happen. They said there was not enough light duty work for me to do. I have the leave for it, but it will exhaust it. I have a few RC projects I would like to get done, but they are small and will not take anywhere near 10 weeks to complete. I just hope I actually do have enough leave to cover it all, and that nothing else happens to complicate the situation. This really sucks guys. I have never been off of work for this long, and I have never been asked to take an extended leave period for my best interest and that of the company as well. Sorry to complain.

LOL, Actually I don't like their boards...everything else yes but except their Contac series they did when baseless bindings were "in", I haven't liked many of their boards......I rode on their B-team for 3 years and that was always a sore subject w/ them when I would be seen riding a duotone or crap board (yes the company was called crap)..... I rode everything else BUrton but the board.......I still have my last Duotone...best board made IMO....all hand laid and torsion boxed from almost tip to tip.....compression plates around the binding mounts that take a lot of the flat landing sting out and holds an edge better than some of my old race boards did......

TOm, 10 weeks...wow......hey if you need a mini vacation give me a call...I got couch space you can crash on...lol....

Thanks my friend, I will keep that in mind. When you hurt your knee were you out of work at all? If so what did you do to pass the time? It has only been about two weeks and I am already going stir crazy, and now I can't even come to work to get away from it all. Oh well what can you do? To add insult to injury Amy wants to take this weekend and go skiing again. Talk abou holding the carrot in front of my face! I get to sit in front of the tube while she skis. Maybe I will come down there while she is up there! LOL Thanks again my friend and take care of yourself.

I was only out for a week, I was sitting in my bed w/ a laptop and plans spread out for about 4 days and then I went back to work and wore shorts. T shirts and flip-flops.......

I had some serious rehab and just couldn't do it anymore...I need to get back into it but no time now......I got lucky and was working for the same company when there was only 4 of us.....the boss showed me how to do a design submittal for one system and I made it better than his was.....I've been doing that ever since because of my injury, but I'd give my left nut to not have had to have the surgery in the first place........I still can't really run anymore......once you stop being active it really messes you up, changes your metabolism and just fall apart quick......don't stop doing what you enjoy if it keeps you active man....good luck w/ teh recovery

Sorry to hear about work Bro. Going to suck, 10 weeks off. Maybe the girlfriend could get ya a puzzle to work on? Like maybe a nice RC puzzle of some sort? :hehe:

I'm glad the doctor is being strict with the pain meds. I have a couple of friends that were hooked on them. My best friend got to where he had to prepare his fix at night so when he woke up, it was right beside him. Said he would have to do several just to "feel normal." Like Jesse said, be very careful with them.

My son broke his leg about 3 years ago. Fell off a cliff. Damn lucky he didn't get killed. Broke his femur and has a rod in it now. He had to use a walker for a couple of weeks. He gets around good now, but I figure it will always bother him.

One more thing..... Doc says you aren't supposed to do something else? 'Ol Lady had surgery 7 or 8 years ago? When the doc told her she wasn't supposed to do "something else," I looked at her and said he didn't say anything about me. Well it was different, but the most "something else" I had in a long time!

Good luck to ya Tom. Stay in touch.
Best of luck to you too Jesse. Hope you and your wife are working things out. As long as both of you are willing to work it out, you have a hell of a chance.

Hey Dig,

Well Day one almost over with and I am already stir crazy. I have the PS2 going and I am taking a break from Resident Evil 2 and Battle Front II. I think I may try Call of Duty 2 later. Only so much I can take at one sitting before I have to get up. The soon to be wife took me out last night to get some movies, a couple of books, and some PS2 games to keep me busy for a while. I swear she is absolutely awesome. Last night she was asking me what I was going to do to pass the time, and I had told her I was thinking about getting an RC kit to build over the next weeks. She said that was cool, the deal is though, I have to keep it to a reasonable amount. That was totally cool of her. Thank you for the well wishes, and I hope your son is ok now. I was told even if everything heals as planned I will almost certainly develop arthritis in the joint though. Oh well as long as I heal I should be ok. Take care my friend.

Hey Bro,
My son is doing well enough to make me a paw-paw. About 4 more months? Going to have a grand daughter. Kinda sux that I'm that old. Kinda looking forward to it too. His girl friend has a 3 yr old girl now. She is cute as hell, but a little heathen. Spent some time with them over the holidays. Had a blast.

Good luck on your kit. Don't give up on the planes either. If you like aircraft enough to build a kit, try another. Think I built 3 before I flew good enough to get one back. Get an instructor. (I didn't, and screwed up) You will bring the plane home at the end of the day. The SPAD's are a cheap way to get into them too. http://www.spadtothebone.com/freeplans.htm Ugliest thing on the flight line, but the one I built flew good.

Hey Ken,

Thanks for the info. I do love to fly. I flew with a group of retired military guys about 8 years ago, and loved it. I was by far the yougest there but they treated me like one of the guys. The guy that was teaching me to fly though, was new himself and I think that is why I lost so many planes. I had a trainer that lasted me a good long while. I think it was a hobbico. I am not real sure, it has been a long time. I had a fox engine in it and the thing flew great. Like you said, it was not pretty, but it flew. We covered the thing in Chartruse monikote and the thing pretty much glowed in the dark. I actually lost that one to bird attack! LOL I had an osprea fly right through one of the wings. It was actually pretty neat. Anyway I would love to fly again. We shall see. I don't know if the old lady will approve of yet another tagent of RC. :) You are right... I shouldn't give up on it. I will check out the link. Thanks man. Take care! and congrats on the grand baby. I just became an uncle myself.
