Warby's Traxxas Nitro Sport,
spare parts build
spare parts build
I purchased this broken, incomplete Traxxas Nitro sport with the intent of using it for spare parts for my original Nitro Sport Pro restoration, but it was in worse condition than I expected. None of the components were worth using on the resto build. The resto build ended up in new condition and is 99% finished.
So my plan B is to keep the resto build as a shelf queen and get this second one running, to be utilised as a basher. That way I won't damage the resto and I won't cry.
Here's what I'm working will:
From what I can see, this is one of the first models of the Nitro Sports that Traxxas released. Either the 1998 or the 2001 model. That is, if the engine currently fitted to it, is the original. It has the regular TRX .15 engine in it, not the Pro version. It has a pull start and looks to have an aftermarket, bigger header and metal resonator.
It actually runs but you wouldn't think so by the looks of it.
It also came with a spare .15 Pro engine that was advertised as a runner but was seized when I received it. I did manage to free it up after lubricating and letting it soak but I never did tried to get it running before I pulled it apart. Kinda wish I did. I also didn't take many photos.
So I have 3 used .15 engines. Two are confirmed running. I'll probably use the Pro engine which was removed from my original Nitro Sport, which I've managed to get running on the test bench I made. It runs well and has plenty of compression. I'll give it a freshen up before I install it.
As you can see, it's in very poor condition. Dirty, rusty and some redneck repairs everywhere you look. (Look away of you're squeamish
