I'd put the Jato Anacondas on it. Those things, for whatever reason, are pretty good on even some dirt and grass. But killer on pavement. Aren't they 2.8 Chewy?
They are. But the last gen nitro sport and current nitro rustler has 2.8. And those bandit tires may be 1.9s not 2.2.

@Warby
Look at jconcept 2.2s. They should have pin rears and rubbed front if you don't want 2.8 or want an oem setup.

He could put some 2.2/3.8 slicks on it for the Slash. Ooooh... road racer! 😁

Yea the stadium truck ones for the rustler are 2.8 LPs.

Stretch 2.8 tires on 3.2 wheels. A user baldy daniels on trx did it around 2012 or so. Big ass 3.2 wheels with a low profile tire. 🥰😍

Jennys has Anacondas
They had a set of tires for this too I think. 🤔
I measured the pearch on Optima shocks # OT210RB .535" (13.6mm)
OTW123 or 124 springs might work for you.
Its the same spring as early RC10 buggies etc. if you need different rates. It might be an option if Traxxas parts aren't availible to you.
I bet I have a set of heavy springs that I'm unlikely to use if you want me to check. How long are the springs you need?

The stub axles arrived just now so I assembled the axles and fitted them into the carrier with the new bearings, shims and matching blue-anodized, flanged, serrated, nylock nuts.

The extra bearing is just there to temporarily hold the hex in place so not to lose the pin.

Still waiting for the arm mounts from Amazon. They have cleared customs.

Thanks. I've added the Jenny’s set to my watchlist.

Measured my old standard springs. Free length.

Standard front springs = 66mm (this may be wrong. Think mine have been stretched) The interweb says they are 50.8mm but also 55mm long ??

Standard rear springs = 76mm (should be 80mm)
ID = 15.5mm
Wire dia = 1.2mm

But in theory, the rears will need to be roughly 72mm long and 14mm ID to suit the shorter aluminium shocks.

The XXX springs are too big. I thought they were smaller.

The Kyosho springs are the right diameter, but too short.

You might have luck calling some hobby shops over there and see if they have some loose springs they can measure.

The standard Ultra front shocks rebuilt. They actually had the aluminium top caps on. I must have replaced them years ago.

Parts cleaned:

Assembled:

The lower rod ends are slightly bent so I've ordered a complete set of ends as it'll come in handy.
I also have new springs coming as the old front springs were mixed matched or one had been stretched.

I had purchased a new Ez-Start gearbox housing because it was 50% off. Just in case it was needed. It wasn't needed but it was used anyway.

Luckily, I noticed that the new housing didn't have the brass bush installed. It wasn't even supplied in the housing kit. It's not even on the parts manual diagram. So I reused the old one. It's the starter motor shaft support bush.

Traxxas ?? 🙄

Assembly time with new starter motor and supplied plastic gear, and housing. The gears were all in good condition:

The new engine came with a new one-way bearing. (Not show in photos).

And that's a wrap for another week.
Thanks for following 👍

I have a couple sets of springs. 70mm & 68mm long.
They snap on to those Kyosho spring pearches I mentioned.
I bet I could find a tube or something to ship them in. 🤔

Thank you but Traxxas got back to @WickedFog and said that 5859 and 5860 springs will fit. I've checked and they are available locally. They'll be less expensive than shipping overseas.

Thanks anyway. I appreciate the help I'm getting. 🫶👍👍

I'm glad you got it worked out! 😎

I remembered it don't have new bearings for the clutch bell. So I ordered some and a second bearing kit for the second build.

Fun fact, Every bearing in the Nitro Sport is the same size 5x11x4mm. 14 of them.

Apart from engine related bearings.
