RC Driving Style
Hi Guys ! I'm a newbie at this but let me say first of all I Love this forum it has taught me a lot!! :smart:

I want to buy a new motor for my car but don't know what to look for or what brand will fit my car. I have a HPI RS4 RTR3
with the Nitro Star 15fe engine would like to replace it with something with a little more juice :naughty: .

Can anybody suggest anything compatible with my RC with a price range anywhere form 100 to $150 USD.

I'll appreciate any suggestions :hi:

Thanx

-JohnnyBoy

One suggestion when you say motors you mean engine because motors are for electric and engines for nitro.

hey johnny boy - glad to see u up and posting here! didnt see u at waterford last night.

the OS engines are absolute dream engines. easy to tune, very fast. One thing to note, however - is that small block engines dont like to run at WOT for long periods of time. I would recommend that you upgrade to the 2speed tranny prior to making the jump to the high performance engine.

reason for this is that the engine u have now just kinda revs along at a nice clip, but when u install something like that os cvr - its gonna really jump up the RPMs. Getting a 2speed will not only also dramaticlly increase speed as well, but will also relieve alot of stress on your new race engine.

btw - the engine rob picked out, is the same that was in my car that u saw. if that gives u any idea of its performance

robh said an OS CV-RX .15 but alot of times the OS CV-RX .12 will ooutpower stock .15's and price should be a little better than the .15

Another thing to note, if you switch to a mill with a slide carb you will have to redo the throttle linkage, as the RTR 3 is set up for a rotary carb. This is not necessarily a bad thing, just something to take in to consideration.

Something else you want to think about. If you ever plan on racing it, or even think you might, in most cases the .15 won't be legal, so you may want to look in to the OS CVRX .12, which is a pullstart mill, the OS CVR .12 requires the use of a starter box. But a .12 will always be legal.

I have the OS .15 on my RS4 with a 2 speed and absolutely love it. Granted I'm pretty new to this, but I'm not really big into racing yet. I mainly take it to the high school parking lot up the street from me. The car is a lot of fun.

So yall, are saying the O.S. is better than the
MT12 ENGINE (Rear Exhaust). Because I was going to get this one!

737 - i have personally seen both engines run, and have driven both. the mt12 is noticably faster, however - much more finicky to tune, and alot more money. its a better engine, but wont fit the RS4 without serious mods, since its rear exhaust
