Vintage RC battery

I recently found my “nee bright new beetle” 1;6 scale. The battery has leaked (pictured) is anyone able to advise me on a replacement battery (UK) as i want to use it but unsure myself. New bright said there would be a way of replacing but no actual help. I have added the picture of where battery hooks up (i am clever enough to not leave batteries inside electronics) so ports are clear. Not sure if the dipped part can have alternative battery in.

If you poke around on eBay, you can find those batteries new. Just look up “Newbright 9.6v battery.” They still use them for some of their stuff.

Other option is to solder a deans plug or something to it and run a hobby grade 8 cell NiMh. Assuming it’ll fit in the car.

Welcome! That is a very cool bug! I like @jojobeans idea on soldering a deans plug to a new nimh. I could see fitting it into that space being potentially a little tricky
