Well the Rustys got here today, and aside from missing some a few body pins and things like that, they look brand new like they've never been used. I ran a pack through one of them just to see how it ran and handled and everything was fine. It came with 6 battery NiCd battery packs and I don't think that the kid who I got them from knew how to take care of batteries, because they all false peaked as soon as I put them on the charger. I tried one of my batteries that I knew was good, and it worked as it should so I knew it wasn't a bad charger. So I've been cycling the batteries on another charger that didn't have a peak shut off, and so far they're doing ok, so I will cycle them a few times and see what happens. I have good batteries but if I can save these as least I'll have them for starters and backup. I'll let you know how things go as I get my parts in and start installing the hop-up parts.

I'm not sure how I missed this thread but better late than never?

Now that your putting a little power in the Rusty you will need the following......

IMO these are must have items for any Rustler or Stampede

Aluminum idler gear, if you only buy one thing on this list this is the one!
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXJJ94&P=ML

RPM 5x11 bearing carrieers, you will eat through the stock bushings, and stock bearings are too small
Front http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXNY89&P=ML
Rear http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXNY90&P=ML

5X11 bearing of your choice you need 8, the tranny should have them already

These would be optional but very nice to have

PRM Caster Blocks...almost a must have

RPM bumper

ESC mount

Like most rc's a better steering servo.

I was wondering about the idler gear, thanks for that info. I've already ordered RPM arms, bearing carriers, bearings, the bumper, the ESC mount, and the castor blocks will come later this week. The only thing on your list I don't have is the idler gear and the steering servo, but I'm gonna put a 654 MG in each of them. Thanks again for all the info!

I'm in the same boat as charles, but the bug bit me really quick. Since december I have gotten a Duratrax Nitro Evador, Losi aftershock, Losi Mini-t, Traxxas T-Maxx, and yesterday picked up a Traxxas Rustler, (wish i would have waited now that i have seen the new losi desert truck.) I live in an appt. Complex, so the neighbors were gettin pissy about the noise. Was not impressed with the rustler, 21 mph max on radar gun when box promises 35+. I smell bull s*#t.

Don't worry, I've actually been surprised at what you can do with a Rustler fairly cheap. It can be a badass lil race truck with not much money spent, and a whole lot of fun when you need to be quiet. I've got tons of parts coming in for the Rusty, so let me know if you need something. Since I have two of them, I can let one go and order another one because I'm not gonna use the stuff for the second one for a while.

I started in December as well. I got a T-Maxx, and HPI Savage, an HPI baja 5b SS, 2 Traxxas Rustlers, and now an Associated RC10T4

yea, let me know what you get in, and i might buy some stuff off ya, after you test it and give it the "THEMAN" seal of approval.

They must have put something in the water down here in louisiana in december. I started in december also and have a revo 3.3, savage x, and hpi nitro mt.

lol, sublime, where u usually get parts n vehicles from? Trying to find another lhs besides denham, and hobby towne

didnt realize, smaxin is from here too. dayum.

Well 2 of my three I bought from other members on here used. The revo I got in Springfield. The people out in springfield seem to be pretty goodthey will match or beat any internet price. I heard the lhs in Denham sucks so I haven't been there. I try to stay out of Baton Rouge as much as I can so only been to hobby towne once. I also haven't run any of the 3 very much so nothing broken yet. Still doing break in.

Hare's Hobby shop is coming a long nicely. The guy that's running it is constantly building his inventory. He has tons of traxxas parts, and a pretty good bit if HPI. He is just starting to carry Associated.

Oh yea, they just built a track behind Hare's Hobby shop as well, and they will be practicing next week and racing in two weeks I think.

I always call and see if they have the part I need before I drive over there, but a lot of times I break something and order a new part, only to find out that Hare's has it in stock and it's cheaper than ebay or Tower.

Thats good to hear! Last time I was there he didn't have much for surface rc's. They must have moved because from what I remember it would have been hard to put a track behind it, is it still the little green (I think it was green) building on Lee st.? Will they run a 2wd stadium class, thats the class I have always wanted to run.

Yes they built a brand new building next door that's A LOT bigger. Now they have way more car and truck parts than flyers I believe. They will have a stadium truck class, hence the reason I just bought a T4. :) You better get ready, I'm going to start practicing next week.

They are going to start out running electric and nitro, but if they get too many complaints from the nearby neighborhood, they might have to go to just electric over there, and we might put the nitro track on a piece of commercial property I have on MacArthur Drive.

It's a nice lil track they built. It's set up to run off road and can be set up easily to run dirt oval. It's not just thrown together, it's done right. All that's left is to bring in a lil bit more dirt for some of the jumps, the rest is done. They brought in dirt and last week and did the dozer work over the weekend.
