I've been wanting to build one of these for a long time, and I think @Doom! just got tired of waiting for me to get off my butt and do it, so he sent me this bad boy.

The only change I think I'll do is swap a Meus Isokinetic front axle on it along with some +5mm extended hubs on each back wheel to give the truck a +10mm wider track width.

For the body I grabbed an AMT '78 Ford Courier pickup model kit, and I plan to use the cab, and a smidge of the bed on it, but I am still a bit up in the air on the body. One cool thing is this model kit comes with two beds (one is a regular pickup bed without the cap/window) and a roll bar.

I'll be cutting it up a bit.

The shock springs are strong enough to hold up a 10 lb chassis, so they will need to be removed or replaced, but here is a bit of a test fit.

Whatcha think? Think it will be cool like that? Any other body suggestions?

I think no one has any business telling an artist how to paint. :thumbs-up:👌
Well, I am still in the planning stage. I have looked at hundreds of bodies, and this Courier, or a '75 Datsun pickup body is the only two that kinda do it for me.

I'm all for unique and I think you're on the right track for awesomeness!

I really like the Ford Courier idea!
I think I'm sticking with the Courier. I might grab the Datsun body too though so I can just switch it out whenever I feel like something different.

This will be fun to watch.
I hope so. I need to source some much softer springs. That's one thing about these tiny trucks I really hate. The stock shocks are actually better than aftermarket ones, even if you run them without oil, because the springs are way too firm. But the stock shocks don't have much travel. You can't keep your truck light and have any droop with these aftermarket shocks.

Find some small rubber bands and run them on the outside, around the axle and to the frame. They will help off-set the springs tension. Unless you can get internal springs under the pistons. My 1/24 shocks didn't want to come apart easy, so I just ran rubber bands.

The current springs are .5mm wire, 7.1mm OD, and 25mm long. I found some that are .3mmx7mmx25mm long. Should be quite a bit lighter spring rate I hope. I'll add some internal springs to offset the spring rate if not.

That’s pretty killer of @Doom! ! Awesome little rig man! 🤩
Don't tell anybody that he is actually a great dude. We don't want to ruin his reputation as the evil overlord of Mordor 😉
