Hi. Very new to RC boating but have been having a great time so far. For Christmas we bought our little guy two RC boats, one of them a speedboat by a company called DEERC. Unfortunately he broke one of the plastic turn fins, and I've been searching for two weeks for a replacement. Was wondering if some of you here could pass along some wisdom. What I've tried so far: I found turn fins that are the exact same shape made by ProBoat. I bought a pair of their "React 17" turn fins, but they are too big and they don't fit onto the boat anyway (it takes a fin with a "key"-shaped indent in the mounting surface). I could try the ProBoat React 9 fins, and they may be the right size, but they have a key-shaped indent that is 90 degrees off from what I need.

What should I do about this? Rig an aftermarket, possibly upgraded, set of fins that are probably meant for higher-end RC boats? Grind down the plastic mating surface and mount the React 9 fins? Run it without the turn fins? Thanks so much for your recommendations.

Edit: this is the DEERC "2008" High Speed Racing Boat.

Welcome to RCTALK.COM!!! 😎😁👍
I had a DeeRC 200e... maybe silly question but have you contacted them directly about this?
DeeRC customer service is actually really good!!!
Xinlehong toys also stocked parts for my car under a different # (px9200 I think)
Xinlehong is overseas. It took a little while but I got everything as expected. They were exceptionally helpful. Even stumbling around language barriers we were able to communicate well.
Holystone might be another name to check.

Another idea might be a 3d print site may have a file for this part that you could print out.

Good luck!!!😁😎👍

Sorry, can't help you find a replacement, but the correct term is "rudder". Good luck with your search.
Hi Xraycer, thank you. I know what a rudder generically is and I believe what I'm talking about is not that. I'm talking about the fixed stabilizing fins to port and starboard of the rudder.

Thanks CertifiedMike! I did contact their customer service. Hadn't heard back yet but I will keep an eye out.

I found this. I have never heard or used the site before.

My dumbass forgot the link.

Hi Chubaka, thanks so much. I had searched quite a bit, but never found that site. Can anyone speak to holystone.vip? It looks like a low-traffic site and doesn't get happy faces from the scamdetector websites. I also found a holystone.com for UAVs. That one looks higher-traffic but is separate.

Thanks Tunedfrog.

As a R/C boat racer for MANY years, we always fabricated the Fins and mounts we needed.
With an lighter gauge aluminum bracket it can be bent in or out to get correct Strake / Chine alignment.
*On serious boat the brackets get beefy and alignment done via angle correction on the mounting foot.

Good luck !

I got this for my brother in law. His dad passed so I got him into boating! Took it out yesterday in 40 degree weather with a feels like temp of 32. Coats and gloves. We could not flip this. I’d try and make some!

Look for turn fins for a Alpharev on Amazon, it looks to be similar size and battery. I have one of the deerc 2104 I think, for a cheap boat it's fun. It doesn't like the weeds though.. I have others that are more fun but not as cheap..lol..
