If you don't mind a little constructive criticism, this it what I think you should do.

First off, don't continue connecting/disconnecting your fuel line. Keep it connected.
There's a good possibility you'll get gunk in your fuel lines and carb.

You need to address your air filter situation.
Bigger cubed engines require better breathing ability than what you have.
My suggestion is lose that air filter and get yourself a Motorsaver filter.

If that gunk on your exhaust header is there to seal a leak, you need a new
header. Guaranteed to air leak and give you tuning issues.
You'll also need some zip ties to cinch down your silicone coupler while you're at it.

To save yourself future glitching head aches,
organize your wiring, look for chewed wires, and for the love of all creatures
great and small, get rid of that funky battery contraption. This is the best way
to go IMO: A rechargeable flatpack or humpback receiver battery.
7.2volts is overkill, a 6volt system is more than adequate.

As far as the unusual engine noise goes, my O.S. 15 w/pullstart makes the same noise.
Nothing to be concerned with, I've been running my old .15 for years.

thank you for all that!
greatly appreciated,
I will stop disconnecting my fuel lines!
air filter will be my next buy!
and my exhaust header is fine, I just need a new coupler thing lol
the battery pack.I might get but I'm not sure, I've been doing great with my crazy setup lol( it was at 9.6 volts first and that was way too much! made my throttle servo go crazy
again thank you for everything!
and thank you for putting me to ease about 5hat noise!

No worries, man. Just keep up the tenacious attitude and you'll be fine. You don't want to know the crap I went through when I first got started (with my Exceed)...but it's a great learning experience.

I'd actually love the stories!! I can't run my truck until tomorrow so I'm usually stalking this site and reading anything and everything I can find that goes wrong or how to fix certain stuff, I'm extremely passionatemate and I love every aspect of this hobby. from to to bottom I enjoy it =)

I plan to upgrade at some point, depends on how my volcano holds up, and how my money is doing lol.

but the next one I'm for sure going to buy is an exceed 1/16th scale for the other half, so 1. she doesn't hate it so much, and 2 she can play with me =) she will be a lot easier on hers

You think if you have learned anything from this it would be to stop buying off brand rc's, stay away from Exceed!

I would not sink more money into your truck as far as upgrades go, spend some money to get it going, spend some money on keeping it going, learn the basics as best you can. Have fun with it, and well doing that save for a name brand rc.

this is my actual plan, I'm not upgrading it any more, said that a few posts back, I'm going to be putting money aside for a savage, thata what I want next, but I've learned a lot so far.
put it this way, when I got the truck I was afraid to take the tires off lol, now I've pretty much rebuilt the whole thing, and I'm proud of it, regardless of the name. why? because I took some hunk of just I paid a tad too much for and turned it into a beast. its already fast and its getting a 2 speed I can't wait!

the reason I'm going with an exceed for the lady, well it's ssimple, I won't have to worry about her breaking it that much or abusing it like I will, so won't go fast or far she will just putt around, and a big boy rig would be pointless.

I'm always gonna keep my volcano, just becauae it's unique, and its my first and how much I've put into it. unless it somehow goes to complete crap in a week lol

again thank you for your input and response, all is welcome =)
and I've already. been looking at savages. my next door labor has an older savage, bit he isn't as acknowledgable, he told me my high speed was my low speed lol

it was running great then it randomly died, and now it won't idle, I swear if I killed this motor I'm so done. I'm so upset right now
I've tried tuning, it I give it gas it runs, but dies at idle. just cuts out

Sounds like your idle gap is to small, open it just a hair and see it that helps it idle.

tried that. makes it wAnna drive off, it also got harder to start. I have no idea how I collective motor. if I did, I've barely been beating on it, I've put about a half of quart through it, it might be because I need a Custer thing from my exhaust but idk. I'm so upset right now
I feel like I've killed the motor and that's the last thing I want
=(

if I. pull it as to start it I feel compression, it might be me but I'm I'm so upset guys =(

What break in method did you use?

I heat cycled it. I've been taking care of it. I really have, tomorrow I hope it runs and I figure it out, I'm going to try tuning it again, but it was running so good, then bam shut off and hasn't run right since

Check or change your glow plug. If it was running good and then just wasn't, there's no reason to think idle gap or tune problem.

glow plug is fine,
I know it was running pretty rich, could that kill my compression? or could it cause it to die at idle? I feel like I ruined the motor... but I have no idea how!

Remember when I took the time to give you the advice "to NOT try and break in a new engine in 30 degree weather!"

lol yea, but I did use foil at first to keep the temps up, you think running it in 30 degree weather could have killed it?

Don't get frustrated smittyzz, I've been in your situation a few times. If you need to, just walk away from the truck for a day to clear your head. Hopefully its something simple that your missing. When you get back to it , pull the head off and make sure you don't see any metal shavings...it only takes a minute.

I'll have to buy some Allen wrenches then I guess
